Epic e-Learnings
Get a head start on Epic Before you go to your first instructor-led class in Epic, check out the e-learnings online. Each can be viewed in 10-15 minutes. Caregivers in Epic education say that watching the videos ahead of time really helped.

PeaceHealth Physicians & Providers,

Dr. Howard Graman
You've got to love spring, if only for the metaphor it provides in work and life.

As we approach Easter, signs of spring are showing--outside of our windows and inside of the medical group.

Seeds planted long ago are showing healthy growth. Standards for performance and development of common support tools such as Epic are taking root. While it will take a lot more tending before we see the kind of "fruit" we want to from this work, it's exciting to see real and steady progress as Siuslaw (Florence, Oregon) prepares to lead our go-live rollout on May 1.

Another area of "new growth" I want to point out is PHMG's revised intranet site. The site uses a newer technology that allows us  to easily adapt it to the needs of the group. It also includes some powerful information and new resources from departments such as Coding and Charge Capture and Provider Compensation. Take a look when you have a minute.

It's a busy season with spring breaks, Holy Week and--for you basketball fans--March Madness. One more event of note--tomorrow is Doctors Day. More than 60 stories honoring PHMG providers have been collected by the PeaceHealth Foundations through their Doctors Day campaign.

It's heartening to read about the positive impact our group's doctors have made on the lives of patients and staff. Thank you.

Diabetes Bundle
Diabetes Quality Bundle Reports Revised
diabetes-blood-sugar-meter The Diabetes Quality Bundle reports will be revised beginning on April 6 to reflect the following approved changes to the measure from the Quality and Safety Committee:
  1. Patient visits with any provider will be included in the numerator-not just those with the patient's PCP.
  2. Patients who are receiving documented alternate/modified diabetes care will be excluded from the denominator.
  3. The hypertension target will be modified from <130/80 to <140/90.
No changes will be made to the measure on the PeaceHealth Performance Dashboard until FY14. We are modifying the reports now to provide clinicians and care teams with the information needed to gauge performance per the revised measure specifications.

Epic Update
First Go-live Now One Month Away
A lot of work is happening locally and system-wide to prepare for the Epic ambulatory transition.

On May 1, Siuslaw (Florence, Oregon) will lead off PHMG's  rollout as a pilot site. Scheduling caregivers in Florence will begin a "soft go-live" a week prior to gear up for patients to be seen at and after May 1. The rest of Oregon follows close on the heels.

Super users, providers and other caregivers in Florence and the other Oregon communities have started their Epic education.

Technical and process workflow dress rehearsals are due to occur in Florence in a few weeks. Work on converting patient record data is under way. (Read the Guide to Interfaces and Conversion.)

The command center for Epic will be opened in the near future to begin positioning our support for go-live. And communication for patients and outreach to portal users are also in the works. Read the latest Epic project newsletter to learn how PeaceHealth will be helping patients and clinics maximize the new Epic-based patient portal.
