This Week's Q&A

Question:

I've heard different things about how much of my pay will be based on Patient Experience performance next year. What's the final word?

Answer:

A memo went out earlier this week describing the final plan on performance expectations for provider compensation in Fiscal Year 2014. At this point, only the Patient Experience category of performance can be reliably measured and only for those who have a direct line of sight to that measure. A total of 2.5 percent of pay will be based on Patient Experience performance in FY14, which begins July 1, 2013. Any impact on pay would not be seen until November. 2013. There is also an opportunity for a bonus of 1.25 percent and recognition for improved performance over a 12-month period. (Read the memo.) If you have questions about compensation for this year or next, please talk to your local PHMG leaders.

There's a new pilot campaign for Doctors Day beginning today that marks two "firsts" at PeaceHealth--the first time the Foundations have worked together on a single common effort and the first time the medical group will be the primary beneficiary. (See more below.)

On both counts, this is significant and I look forward to following the results in the coming weeks.

I also want to briefly acknowledge a couple of other milestones for the medical group:

  • a major decision on increased primary care staffing of care manager and medical assistant support (more details will be forthcoming)
  • initial action planning yesterday on the provider survey results (thanks to all of the providers and caregivers across the group who are partnering in this work)
You'll hear more about each of these in the near future.

Correction from last week:  Patient Experience was jointly presented by Laura Sanger and Mary Lockhart, program manager for the system.

Postcard Mailing Encourages Stories, Donations
Throughout March, all of the Foundations across PeaceHealth are participating in an exciting new pilot program to recognize the care provided day-in and day-out by our PHMG physicians.

About 20,000 postcards are being mailed to a very targeted list of PHMG patients across the system, encouraging them to submit stories and donations in recognition of their PHMG physicians.

All donations from this campaign will go to PHMG. Historically, the Foundations have raised funds primarily for the hospital so this is a new opportunity for our communities to support the great work of our clinics and providers.

The Foundations look forward to tracking the success of this new campaign and sharing more as results become available.
