Question
Is there some reason we do not have any obvious alcohol gel dispensers on the main floor at our campus?
Answer
Gel stations are usually placed where there's a fair amount of foot traffic, & in accordance to fire marshal codes. Other factors might also influence the number & placement of stations. If you'd like to suggest an area for gel, talk with your local environmental service manager or infection control team. Submit your question

PeaceHealth Physicians & Providers,
 | Dr. Howard Graman |
To quote Charles Dickens from the Tale of Two Cities, "it was the best of times, it was the worst of times." As we approach the New Year, these words seem to accurately characterize both our greater society as well as our own health care environment. While we see tremendous opportunities for technological growth and advances in care delivery, we also experience an alarming increase in senseless violence and increasing financial constraints on our ability to deliver on our mission of providing care to all in the communities we serve despite their ability to pay. In this time of reflection, I hope you will count your blessings, consider those less fortunate and garner your strength for the challenging work ahead. I wish you all a joyous holiday season with family and friends and a Happy New Year. Peace (Due to the holidays, there will be no PHMG Weekly next week.)

Two Hospitals Meet Both 90% Goals
|
For the past several months, PeaceHealth has run a handwashing campaign in all of the hospitals, system-wid e. Congratulations to St. John in Longview and Southwest in Vancouver for meeting or exceeding the 90% goal of washing in and out of every patient room in November. A few hospitals met the washing out goal and just missed the washing in target. Statistics show that routine handwashing can make a life-or-death difference. Whether you work in a hospital or a clinic, patient safety depends on us and appropriate handwashing is one of the most effective actions we can take.
