Opportunity through Education

An Eighth Grade Student and a Kiwimbi Teacher
Twenty Friends of Kiwimbi

Twenty Friends of Kiwimbi is a program for 20 Grade Eight students from Amagoro Primary School who study at the Kiwimbi library every day. Each student is assigned a Kiwimbi teacher. This one-on-one support helps ensure the following objectives are met:
  •  Monitor a pupil's academic success
  •  Help students when needed
  •  Encourage students to read daily
The students benefit greatly from daily meetings with their teachers at the Kiwimbi Library.  Improving their reading and writing skills is important as they prepare for the KCPE, a high-stakes national exam for Kenya's Grade Eight students.
