Changing Lives of Two Single Mothers

Salome Oyengo wanted to become a teacher, but a major obstacle stood in her way. She was a single mother of two children. Typically, teenage girls who become pregnant are not allowed to return to high school in Kenya. Please click here to watch a video of Salome.
With the help of Kiwimbi and a generous sponsor, Salome was allowed to return to school and has since made history in Amagoro. She passed the KCSE, Kenya's national exam, with a good score that has qualified her to attend college. Salome is on her way to realizing her dream of becoming a teacher!
Another single mother, Elizabeth Oyengo, also passed the KCSE with the assistance of Kiwimbi, and can proceed to college to earn her associate's degree.
Salome and Elizabeth, who are sisters, were orphaned in 2005. Please click here to read Salome's autobiography.
Congratulations to Salome and Elizabeth who overcame huge obstacles to pass the national exam and advance to college. And many thanks to the Kiwimbi volunteers who helped make dreams come true for these two young women.
