St. Thomas Amagoro Girls Secondary School - Best Test Results Since Founding of the School!
|
Two years ago, only one girl out of 20 at St. Thomas Amagoro Girls Secondary School qualified to attend college. That was Metrine, who had attended a Kiwimbi camp focused on test preparation - just what she needed to give her a "leg up" for the qualifying KCSE exam. We were so proud that we featured her in our May newsletter that year.
This year, 28 out of 44 students successfully passed that mandatory national KCSE (Kenyan Certificate of Secondary Education exam) and have qualified to attend college! This is the local secondary school whose attendees are the least fortunate, from impoverished families and often unable to attend school full time or continuously.
Yet this year, St. Thomas Girls School boasts grades of: - 2 girls with B
- 3 girls with B-
- 7 girls with C+
- 16 girls with C
- 10 girls with C-
This Amagoro high school has benefitted from intense Kiwimbi support, as they are next door and their students can come to the library daily. Kiwimbi volunteers continue to assist students at both the primary and secondary levels and give students the opportunity to advance to good high schools and realize their dreams of attending college.
