Our mission is to help our students grow academically, socially, & physically to become well-rounded responsible citizens.
School Wide Behavior Expectations: Be Positive, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe, Be a Problem Solver
Our goal is to move all students up one proficiency level in ELA and Math on iLEAP and LEAP. Students who are already at the Advanced level will maintain that level of performance.
During the 2014-2015 school year teachers will use Fountas and Pinnell data to design differentiated instruction.
We will maintain a campus that provides a safe, positive, and respectful learning environment for students. |

Memo from Ms. Blanke
Most of our parents have registered for Parent Portal which is an online tool that enables you to monitor your child's grades and attendance. If you have not yet registered for the portal, please contact Ms. Kathleen for log in information.
Please encourage your students to build their math fluency by using First in Math in kindergarten through fifth grade. There are games and family activities at the site, and it is a fun way for students to strengthen their skills.
Applications for new admissions to the Advanced Studies Academies for the 2015-2016 school year are now available. If your child is currently enrolled at Metairie Academy and you plan to return for the 2015-2016 school year, you do not need to submit an application. Current fifth grade students who wish to attend Haynes or Patrick Taylor should not complete an application. The Admissions Office will provide these families a school selection form during the spring semester. There is more detailed information available at the Jefferson Parish Public Schools website or you can call our office.
We will conduct school tours for families who are interested in applying for admission to Metairie Academy in 2015-2016 at 9:00 A.M. on October 14 and 28. If you have family members, friends, or colleagues who are considering applying for admission to MAAS, please encourage them to set up an appointment to take a tour of the school.
Parent conferences will be on October 21 from 3:30 P.M.-5:30 P.M. Since the time is limited, I request that you schedule a conference only if there is a concern you have not yet discussed with your child's teacher. If you do wish to have a conference, please call the office to schedule your appointment.
Our neighbors appreciate your respect when parking and proceeding through the car pool lines. Please avoid blocking driveways and parking on lawns. There has been extensive roadwork around our school, and I appreciate your patience as you navigate the congested streets.
As of September 23, 2014 the lot across the street that we use for parking will no longer be available. No automobiles or property of any kind may be parked, kept, stored, or otherwise situated on the property owned by Piana, LLC. When parking for events on campus or waiting in the carpool line, please be mindful of our neighbors.

Meet Our New Staff
Written by Chloe Aucoin & Delaney Walker
Conchetta Tillery, also known as "Mrs. Tillery," has been teaching science to the fifth graders. But this isn't her first time because she has been teaching for eight years. Her previous school is Live Oak Manor. She went to the University of New Orleans and earned a degree in general science. She enjoys reading and watching movies sometimes simultaneously. She wants to help out in the ecology project to save the wetlands. She just started here and already says this is the best teaching position she has had since she began teaching.
Valerie Delicia has been teaching our kindergarteners. She graduated from Xavier University and earned her degree in early childhood education. Before she came to Metairie Academy, she was at Kerr Elementary in Bossier City. She likes to read, sew, and cheer the Saints on. She thinks Metairie Academy is an awesome school.
Leslie Dubroc is our new Talented Visual Art teacher. She graduated from Tulane University where she earned a degree in Media Arts and Computer Information. She teaches the lower grades for Talented Visual Arts. Prior to her coming to teach at Metairie Academy she worked in JPPSS central office for 10 years. Her hobbies include technology, photography, visual art, gardening, her dogs and riding her Vespa. Her goal is to instill a lifelong passion of thoughtful creativity in her students. She says that Metairie Academy is a great school and the students are so bright!
Marie Linda Upton has been teaching for a full thirty-five years. She earned her education degree from Texas Christian University and the University of New Orleans. She has held the position of Itinerant Theatre Teacher at seven schools during her career. She enjoys reading novels and biographies, watching movies, going to the theatre, ballet and concerts. She says that Metairie Academy kids are very sweet, talk a lot and are full of ideas.

Cheese and 15% of all purchses, (food, beverages, tokens, & merchandise) as long as it is purchased through the cashiers and not the token machines. All token purchases made through the token machine will not go to the fundraiser. |
