Most Effective, Inspiring and Entertaining
Ever been to a trading room and so much is happening that you can't follow along? Or the alternative... nothing happens and it's just a coffee club or drop in center for like minded traders, each looking for the magic profit pill? We have been involved in both. It is for that reason that we found what works and what does not.
The problem with many trading rooms is that the most charismatic member dictates the trades. He/she may not even be any good but just the strongest personality of the group. In retrospect, I was in a group once where our adopted and entrusted leader saw a stock suddenly drop in price, jumped off his seat and yell 'Sell, sell, sell!" Needless to say, we sheep followed and took the ensuing losses, not even giving it a second thought. A few minutes later, guess what happened: the stock recovered and rose even higher.
That was the moment for me: the point in time when I realized that I do not need to follow anyone. Had I not gotten pulled into the emotion of the moment, I could have saved myself some serious money. My losses were my fault. But never again.
Another trading room I had the pleasure of partaking in ran like a democracy. Everyone seemed to have say in what we, as a group, should do with our own individual accounts. This too, was inherently all wrong. The market does not care about you, me or our collective opinions.
Our trading room is very different. We have three pro traders - Burt, Bob and myself - each with our own styles. We do not dictate to our participants what they should trade. In fact, our Live Trading room is an event. We assemble at 9:20am, discuss the premarket report and highlight our setups, entry and exits as they happen. Tip #7 to Financial Contentment
In this and the next few issues of Hugh's News, we will offer some tips to a more fulfilling and financially happier life.
You are who you hang out with.
We all know them... Debbie Downers. Complainers. The victims of every day life.
Dump them, Distance yourself. Do whatever it takes but know that it does not serve you well to associate with people - as nice as they may be - who are always negative. That energy has a way of transferring to you and the profound effects can be disastrous. It's near impossible to excel at day trading if you are surrounded by this force. Love them for who they are but pull up the wall to protect your own sanity if you are to step into your trading room.
Happiness comes from within. Even if it's as simple as listening to your favorite song, get in the right, positive frame of mind in everything you do. It will translate into a supportive financial framework as well.
