Accountable Care Act Slowing the Growth of Private Duty Home Care

Yesterday, I was in a very interesting conversation with a group of owners of $5 Million private duty home care companies.  The topic of our discussion was how they plan to handle the employer mandate for the Accountable Care Act.  As you know,  the implementation date for the employer mandate was just pushed back to January 2015, which gives owners a twelve month reprieve.

One of the questions that the owner of the largest company in the group asked is, "What do you think about expanding your business in the next year?  Is this going to be a good opportunity to grow while the smaller companies are struggling to deal with Obamacare?  Is this a good time to acquire another company? Or will there be some real pitfalls that could be potentially dangerous to us if we try to expand?"

Additionally, there is no "one size fits all" solution to home care.

Tips to Use Public Speaking to Promote Your Home Care Services
Research conducted by Leading Home Care and The Academy for Private Duty Home CareŽ shows that speaking in public to audiences of prospective customers is a highly effective marketing tool for private duty home care.  If your focus is consumer marketing, you can speak to groups of professional women, aged 45 to 65, who have an aging parent.  If your focus is referral marketing, you can speak to groups of potential referral sources.

The nation's largest labor union organization, The AFL-CIO,  approved a resolution yesterday (9-11-13) saying that President Obama's health care overhaul will drive up the costs of union-sponsored health plans to the point that workers and employers are forced to abandon them.
