It's Here: The First Retail Rocks Video!

At our last Retail Rally we had MATC students, Emma Cortes and Warren Barth on hand to capture some of the retail brainpower in the room. Hear what some of our attendees had to say about their most successful marketing campaigns and some of their most challenging customer interactions, in this fun short five-minute video, Retail Rocks! Oh, and by the way...

The Retail Rallies are hitting the road!

Madison, Racine and Kenosha will host Rally events in 2014. Click here for more exciting information on the upcoming series of educational events and networking opportunities.

Seriously Skinny!

If you've ever felt you could use more space, the tenants of these buildings may agree with you. Or, perhaps, they've made the most out of what they have. However they feel, we found this little gem too interesting not to share.

Take a peek at some of the world's skinniest buildings. By making the most of a building site, (i.e. building upwards not outwards), real estate developers have created some distinctive and memorable spaces.

Main Street Work:
Wrapping Up Whitefish Bay

Retailworks display artists
took to the street-Main street that is-in downtown Whitefish Bay to add a sprinkle of festive cheer to the community.

Large custom-made window decals and huge wrapped 3-D gifts adorned windows and a few vacant storefronts adding sparkle and colorful eye-catching detail to the downtown.

 Product Profile:

Attention-getting Oversized Props!

Our larger-than-life presents have generated a lot of interest and inquiries into what we can do in terms of custom display pieces.

Our gift-wrapped boxes were custom-made out of luan, a material similar to Masonite, yet lighter and more durable. They were wrapped in a washable, long lasting covering that will resist fading and retain its vibrant coloring for years to come. Bows were handmade with mesh and wire to retain their shape and add sparkle to make the presents "pop!"

Storage an issue? No problem, we can customize the display pieces to be stack-able or collapsible.

Client Spotlight: McAdams Graphics

McAdams Graphics, in Oak Creek, Wisconsin looked to Retailworks to assist with the branding of their new label division: ALjAN.

The design team assisted with selection and placement of paint colors and graphics on the walls [inside and out] of the new division. They also provided ideas for branding, way finding signage, historical timeline, and general service signage for parent company, McAdams Graphic.

"Never underestimate the power of a well-designed environment." ~Lyn Falk

Did you Know?

Tucked away in an alley in New York City is a 60 sq-ft free museum that showcases items from every day life and some unusual artifacts?

Oh, and did we mention that it is housed in an old elevator shaft? It even comes complete with a shop and cafe (very loosely defined, in our opinion).

Looks like a fun adventure during a trip to the Big Apple!

Out & About

Dogwoods, holly, natural colors and plaid accents  added a touch of nostalgia to the displays.

Meanwhile, Kim was also busy with a display of a different nature: organizing hundreds of Rainbow Loom items to increase  visibility and boost sales at this popular Southridge Mall kiosk.

Display Tip

Shape Up!

According to design science,  shapes send certain messages to your customers, often on a subliminal level.

Squares and cubes have solid, secure, bold meanings. Triangles and pyramids are directive, upward reaching and active (think volcano). Circles and spheres are all-encompassing, smooth, fluid and unifying. And for eternal, yet calming energy, turn to spirals. Nature doesn't get it wrong (think galaxies and DNA).

How are shapes and forms in your store affecting customer perception and behavior?
