If you don't want it ... We DO!! Bring in your old yearbooks, sports jerseys, photos, posters, pom poms, letter sweaters, etc...where all will be displayed in the Alumni Room at Milby High School after the school reopens in 2016. At this time, all our Milby memorabilia is safely stored away for future display.
Everyone will be invited to the school to view these memories from the past. Let's show the students how it used to be in the "good ole days."

Empty, dark and with the sound of bull dozers in the background.
That's how Milby High School started this school year.
"It's mixed feeling on it. Part of it is that this building has been here for such a long time and there's a lot of memories associated with it," says Roy de la Garza, principal of Milby High School.
For the first time since 1926, Milby High, known as one of the oldest and most prestigious schools in HISD closed it's doors.

UPDATE:
We have had reports that there are some people stealing bricks from the buildings being demolished at the school. We ask that you refrain from stealing from the jobsite, as it could result in your arrest. The GOOD NEWS is that the Alumni Association has been allotted some bricks that will be removed from the buildings for a future Fund Raising Event. More information on this amazing opportunity to "own a piece of Milby" as we have them.

"MasterChef," Fox's cooking-competition show for home cooks, awarded one of its coveted aprons to Houston's own Willie Mike, a 2005 graduate of Milby High School. Big Willie lost his bid to win the coveted MasterChef title and left the show after making it to the

2014 Scholarships Awarded
One of the goals of the Milby Alumni Foundation is to raise money for student scholarships. This year, scholarships were awarded to two deserving students.

Kindle Fires Donated for Drawing Winners
Twice a year, the Milby Alumni Association contributes Kindles for two awards. The students qualify for the drawing by making the Honor Roll and by having Perfect Attendance.

Donate Your Used Guitars and Violins for Milby's Orchestra
Marcia Powell, Class of 1970, Orchestra Director at Milby has asked us to reach out to the Alumni to ask for your help acquiring used Acoustic Guitars
and Violins for her department. She can restring and repair the instruments, so any contribution would be greatly appreciated.

The GOOD NEWS is that Milby has re-activated their dormant Track Team for 2014. The BAD NEWS is that they don't have any funds to purchase much-needed uniforms or equipment for both the Boy's and Girls Cross-Country and the Track/Field teams. Currently, their immediate needs include the purchase of the following:
One (1) - Discus
One (1) - Pole Vault
Eighteen (18) - Hurdles

I ran across some old Milby year books, these are old ones....1945..1946 the 1947 belonged to Merle Byrne Scheffer...1951..1952 and 1953, these belonged to Bryan Byrne. Just passing this along there may be someone out there looking for their parents year books.

DIGITAL YEARBOOKS
The Milby Buffalo Yearbook Staff currently has many previous yearbooks on hand. We are also looking for donations to pay for the 2013-2014 yearbooks. If you'd like to donate, please contact: Jamaica Negrete at 281-610-3059 or by email at jnegret1@houstonisd.org to discuss how to get funds to the staff.
Yearbooks For Sale; 1994, 1997 and 2007 - $60 each
NOTE: The School Librarian just started digitizing the yearbooks the end of 2013. Presently there are 14 yearbooks that are available to be viewed and/or downloaded from the Milby HS website ( milby.org). The school is requesting that donations can be made to the school for this project. You can contact the Librarian at 713-928-7418 or by email.
Currently, we are missing the following yearbooks. If anyone has a copy, please contact us so we can copy for digitizing.
Missing: 1921, 1922, 1923, 1924, 1927, 1928, 1929, 1930, 1931, 1932, 1933, 1934, 1935, 1991, 1998, 1999, 2001.
