Our first annual Milby Alumni Appreciation Day was a huge success ... We have chronicled photos from the event in a slide show for your enjoyment. Click here to view what some of the attendees had to say about the event. If you were unable to make it this year, just watch our newsletters for the announcement on our next event.
We want to thank everyone that donated their time, energy, food, money and efforts to put this on. We could not have done this without them. The Culinary Dept did all the cooking/grilling and serving of the food. The ROTC was responsible for crowd control and parking. The Milby band, Dancers and Steppers performed for us all. Food was donated by Houston Foods, Inc. (dba Burger King) and drinks were donated by Coca-Cola.
And most of all, we want to thank YOU, the attendees for joining us for this fun day. Be sure to check out our video (above) of this event.

MILBY TIME CAPSULE - Now and Then
Soon Milby will be starting its remodel, so perhaps its time we create a new Time Capsule to leave behind for our future Alumni. We are looking for your suggestions as to what we can include in our Time Capsule, since this is really a two-sided adventure involving both the present and those who will uncover it once again at a later date.
We need to make sure that the items we select will add the element of surprise and discovery for those who will open this curious treasure chest of history. Please contact us with your ideas on this upcoming endeavor. We will send out an announcement when we have our ceremony to place this piece of history on the school grounds.
And on that note, we are looking for anyone that might have information on Milby's existing Time Capsule that was planted at Milby back in the 1950's.

MILBY TRACK TEAM REACTIVATED -- AND THEY NEED YOUR HELP!

The GOOD NEWS is that Milby has re-activated their dormant Track Team for 2014. The BAD NEWS is that they don't have any funds to purchase much-needed uniforms or equipment for both the Boy's and Girls Cross-Country and the Track/Field teams. Currently, their immediate needs include the purchase or the following:
One (1) - Discus
One (1) - Pole Vault
Eighteen (18) - Hurdles

 MILBY SPRING CARNIVAL Saturday March 29th ...
Milby held their first annual Spring Carnival on school grounds Saturday, March 29th. The Milby Alumni Association participated with a Food Booth, in addition to the fun events and activities put on by school clubs and organizations. For more details, visit the Milby High School website. |

DIGITAL YEARBOOKS
The Milby Buffalo Yearbook Staff currently has many previous yearbooks on hand. We are also looking for donations to pay for the 2013-2014 yearbooks. If you have a business you'd like to advertise, prices are listed below, or if you'd like to just donate, please contact: Jamaica Negrete at 281-610-3059 or by email at jnegret1@houstonisd.org to discuss how to get funds to the staff.
Yearbooks For Sale; 1994, 1997 and 2007 - $60 each
Yearbook Ad Sizes:
Full Page - :$160
Half Page - $100
Quarter Page - $50
Business Card Size - $35
Donations - Any amount will be recognized in the book as well with a special thanks page included
NOTE: The School Librarian just started digitizing the yearbooks the end of 2013. Presently there are 14 yearbooks that are available to be viewed and/or downloaded from the Milby HS website ( milby.org). The school is requesting that donations can be made to the school for this project. You can contact the Librarian at 713-928-7418 or by email.
Presently I do not know the cost for an individual copy. Current yearbooks at most High Schools are $60.00 plus. Milby is trying to save all of the yearbooks so that they will be there for future and past students. It should be noted that the Milby Alumni Foundation/Association has already made a donation to the School for this Project and are encouraging others to do also.
Currently, we are missing the following yearbooks. If anyone has a copy, please contact us so we can copy for digitizing.
Missing: 1921, 1922, 1923, 1924, 1927, 1928, 1929, 1930, 1931, 1932, 1933, 1934, 1935, 1991, 1998, 1999, 2001.

New Items Are Coming To Our Alumni Store
 Be sure to check out our Alumni Store for Alumni items for sale. At our recent Burger Bash, we had numerous inquiries about our light denim Alumni embroidered shirts. We are happy to provide them at this time. We are offering both long or short-sleeved shirts. And, if you don't find what you want, just let us know and we will try to provide it. All profits from our store are used to raise money for student scholarships, teacher grants and school improvements. We appreciate your support!! |
