Gov. Scott Congratulates New College

We are so very proud of our school, and know that our amazing students have surpassed the rest of the State University System in national achievements not only this year, but for many years. We also know that it is the hard work of the Alumnae/i Association and Foundation that keeps New College affordable.  Thank you for your continued support of New College!

Librarians Caroline Reed and Alison Piper have authored an article that appears in the Fall 2013 issue of Florida Libraries.  The article is titled "Improving Circulation by Eliminating the Circulation Department."

Benefit Luncheon for Maya McKibbin

October 9 | 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Outside the Counseling and Wellness Center, Bayfront Campus

 

The New College community is hosting a benefit luncheon for Maya McKibbin, the 12-year-old daughter of Adam McKibbin, a maintenace mechanic with the college's Physical Plant department. Maya is undergoing lengthy treatment for a rare form of bone cancer. At the luncheon, hot dogs (beef and vegan) water, chips and a cookie will be available for a $5 donation. For those unable to attend, the Center and Physical Plant also are accepting donations. 

 

   

One Book One Community
"Patrick Smith's Florida Is A Land Remembered"

October 18 | 7 p.m.
Sudakoff Center, 5845 General Dougher Place

One Book One Community is celebrating its 10-year anniversary with a program honoring the first book in the series, "A Land Remembered" by Patrick D. Smith, which was read and discussed in 2003. Rick Smith, the author's son, will share his father's real-life, extraordinary experiences with Florida pioneers, the Seminoles, migrant workers, 'river rats' of Mississippi, the social injustices of the South, and the challenges of the present in a multimedia presentation. The 2014 One Book will be announced at the shows.

 

Free event; open to the public. Seating is limited. Pre-registration is required; reserve seats at onebooksarasota.com.
