Donate to Hendricks County Bicentennial Time Capsule
A time capsule celebrating Hendricks County in Indiana's Bicentennial will be placed in the Hendricks County Government Center. The capsule will be dedicated in December 2016 and is slated to be opened during Indiana's Tricentennial in 2116.
The time capsule contents are intended to be a celebration of the people and places of Hendricks County and we need your help. If you could communicate to the citizens of Hendricks County one hundred years from now, what would you say?
- Would you try to explain today's many social concerns?
- Show them what your town looks like in 2016?
- Send them best wishes for their lives?
- Tell them about your organization and its members?
- Offer a prediction for life in 2116?
- Or give them a menu from your favorite Hendricks County eatery?
Please provide us with such things as letters, photographs and memorabilia to be included in the time capsule. Long-term preservation of the time capsule's contents is our primary goal. Donated items should be in excellent and clean condition and can be no larger than 11" by 14". Paper items should be printed on acid-free paper, if possible, or will be copied onto acid-free paper by the committee. Only one side of the paper should be used. Do not use staples, scotch tape, masking tape or adhesives. Handwritten items should be legible and preferably in #2 pencil. Items that are exceedingly fragile or made of leather will not be included.
Photographs should be printed, of a size no larger than 8" by 10", and preferably in black & white. 35mm film prints are preferred but digital photos printed on premium photo paper using Epson, HP or Lexmark printers will be considered. Note: using recycled or off-brand print cartridges has been proven to significantly reduce the longevity of printed matter. Do NOT write on the front or back of the photograph. Please provide on a separate sheet of paper the date the photo was taken and a complete description of the subject matter.
The time capsule committee reserves the right to refuse any item deemed unsuitable for inclusion in the time capsule due to content, space limitations or preservation concerns. Items not placed in the capsule will not be returned to the donor unless special arrangements are made with the committee prior to donation.
Items may be dropped off at Avon, Brownsburg, Clayton, Danville, or Plainfield Public Libraries or the Northwest Hendricks Schools corporate office. Each donation must be accompanied by a donation information sheet available at the libraries or at Danville Public
Library's website-www.dplindiana.org. All donations must be received by November 10, 2016.
