Keyboard Shortcuts Save Time and Clicks

It's more ergonomic to type than double click all day long, so they save your wrist too.  Here are a few of the most frequently used functions that can be performed with your keyboard instead of your mouse.

Ctrl (Command for Macs) + C ...  copies selected text or a selected item
Ctrl (Command for Macs) + X ...  cuts the same text or item
Ctrl (Command for Macs) + V ...  pastes the same text or item
Ctrl (Command for Macs) + Z ...  undo the previous action
Ctrl + Y (Command+Shift+Z for Macs) ...  redo the undo
Ctrl + F (Command for Macs) ...  opens the Find tool in any program or web browser
Ctrl (Command for Macs) + Tab ...  switches between open programs or web browser tabs
Ctrl (Command for Macs) + S ...  saves the working file
Ctrl (Command for Macs) + P ...  opens a print preview of the working page
F2 ...  allows renaming of a selected file
Alt + F4 (Command+W for Macs) ...  closes the working program or window

balCard Readers in your library

Need to transfer data from an SD card, micro SD card, XD or other type of card storage to CD, flash drive or cloud storage?  Check out a card reader at the Customer Service desk for use in our computer lab.  We even have a USB 3" floppy drive for handling older files.

We also now have a military smart card CAC reader for military service members needing access to their orders.

computerclassesComputer Classes on hiatus

During the holiday season, our computer classes will be on hiatus.  Check back in January and February for next year's roster.

In the meantime, check out the Basic Computer Skills tutorials on BPL's Testing and Education Reference Center (TERC) for instruction in using Microsoft 7, Word 2010, Access 2010, Excel 2010 and Powerpoint 2010.

To access the Basic Computer Skills programs, go to the BPL Online Resources page, click on Testing and Education Reference Center, then on Career Tools.  You will need to create a login and password for TERC so that you can save your progress.  Your login ID and password does not have to be the same as your library card information.
