Mark your calendars for
Friday, August 1 and plan to stop in anytime between 4 and 8 p.m. to wish Wanda well as she retires at the end of August.  She's been the face of our library many years and has given selflessly to our community. We're going to miss her, but we wish her the best as she starts this new chapter in her life!

Do you feel like the clock is working against you?  We'd like to help!  Have you used our Holds system?  It's easy!  Simply visit our catalog and "shop" for the items you'd like to check out.  Use the "Hold this for Me" button and login when prompted.  We'll pull together your items and have them ready and waiting for you on our Holds shelf located near the Customer Service Desk.*  Not only does this save you time, but it's free and oh yeah you can "shop" anytime...even at 2 a.m.!

*Held items that are showing as "in" are pulled at 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. for pick-up.

More authors and titles available for YOU now in
eBook and eAudio!

Have you been wondering where your favorite authors are in eBook format?  We're excited to announce that our eBook and eAudio supplier, OverDrive, now has Simon & Schuster authors available.  What does this mean to you?  Well, besides the other great authors on our downloadable site you'll now find authors such as Stephen King, Janet Evanovich, Mary Higgins Clark, David McCullough and Jodi Picoult!

Did you know you can also ask for titles we don't own yet? Here's how!

1. Visit our Overdrive page.
2. Log in to your account, click on Advanced Search and type the name of the title and/or author you're looking for and choose to see "Additional Titles to Recommend." This will bring up anything available through Overdrive whether we currently own it or not.
3. If you see the title you want is available through Overdrive look at the icon in the top right of the cover, and you'll see the available formats (eAudio and/or eBook).
4. When you are logged in, you can "Recommend" a title, which just suggests that we purchase something. Or you can actually place a hold on a title, which is the better option if you'd like to get in line for it. You can do that by clicking the icon highlighted in the red circle above, which looks like a person reading with a plus sign above it. From there, it will take you through a few more steps such as putting in your e-mail address so we can notify you when it is available and you'll be on the list for it.

If you have any questions about eBooks or how to do something on your tablet or eReader, feel free to stop in at our "Ask Us" station or give us a call at (317) 852-3167, option 2.

Are you curious about budget information for your local government agencies?  You can access information at the Gateway website.  Click the link below to view a plethora of information!

Hendricks County and the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance have created and launched a new budget notice website that will provide taxpayers with the ability to view budget notices in one central online location.

BudgetNotices.IN.Gov will assist citizens who want to attend and stay involved with the budgets of their local government units. Taxpayers will be able to view all local government units in the county, search by their address, or use an interactive map tool. This website has been designed to promote the importance of budget notices and the role that they play in the daily lives of Indiana taxpayers.

The Indiana Department of Local Government Finance is the state agency that oversees the property tax and local government budgeting system in Indiana.
