Blount Partnership News & Events

It's June so that means another exciting month of activities, events and networking opportunities. Just a reminder that today at 4 p.m., Station House Photography is holding its ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony at 109 E. Harper Avenue, Maryville, TN 37804. We hope to see you there.

Summer on Broadway, a celebration in downtown Maryville with music, beverages, BBQ, and family activities, is coming up June 27-28 and we are looking for volunteers to help with the event. Email Tammi if you are interested.

JOIN US FOR THE THIRD ANNUAL PIGS AND POLITICS LEGISLATIVE DAY
The Third Annual Pigs & Politics Legislative Day is set for Thursday, June 26 from 4:30-7:30 p.m., at the Clayton Center for the Arts Courtyard on the Maryville College Campus. Tickets are $25 (public), $20 (Chamber) and $10 (kids). Call 865-983-2241 to get tickets.

This is a great opportunity for the public to visit with elected officials as they mingle in a summer pig roast setting with the business community. There are no speeches; just a lot of Calhoun's BBQ, beer provided by Smoky Mountain Brewery and a live performance by the Jeff Jopling Band.

Event sponsors include Novacopy, Calhoun's, Merle FM 98.7, Kramer Rayson LLP, Maryville College and Paine, Tarwater and Bickers LLP. Additional sponsors include: Cherokee Millwright * City of Alcoa * Massey Electric Company * TEAMHealth * Vulcan Materials * Northwestern Mutual * Rentenbach Constructors, Inc. * Tom Hatcher, Circuit Court Clerk

REMEMBER WHEN
I'm going to close out the disco era with "Funkytown" by Lipps, Inc., which began its four-week run atop the Billboard Music Charts this week in 1980. The single holds a unique record for reaching number one in 28 countries, more than any other song at the time until Madonna's "Hung Up" hit number one in 41 countries in 2005. Here's a remix from Pseudo Echo a few years later that peaked at No. 6.
