Blount Partnership News & Events

It's the first full week of spring and that means it's coffee club and BYLD week. Coffee club is being held Thursday at 7:45 a.m., at the Tennessee Vein Center and BYLD is holding its monthly meeting Thursday at Calhoun's with the ever-charming, Dave Bennett of Cherokee Millwright & Mechanical.

The Blount Partnership's office at 201 S. Washington St. in Maryville is undergoing a renovation project beginning in April. Before it begins, the Partnership is conducting a silent auction for Chamber members for numerous physical items such as desks, chairs, tables and other furnishings.

The silent auction begins Monday, March 24 at 10 a.m., and concludes Wednesday, April 2 at noon. Winners will be notified that afternoon and must pick up items by noon, Friday, April 4.

If you're heading out to the Spring Festival in Townsend May 2-3 (and I know you are), be sure to buy your two-day parking pass online for $10. It will save you $6 on the regular parking rate. Online orders will be mailed. Or, stop by the Chamber office and pick one up.

To get the most out of your Blount County Chamber of Commerce membership, we give you an opportunity to get involved with many events and committees. So check them out and find one that appeals to you.

REMEMBER WHEN
Here's a song you either loved or hated. It's Will Smith's "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It" which topped the Billboard Singles chart this week in 1998 capping a three ride atop the music world. The song won a Grammy Award in 1999 for the Best Rap Solo Performance. It was ranked the 68th greatest song of the 1990s by VH1. However, it was ranked at No. 19 on the list of AOL Radio's 100 Worst Songs Ever in 2010.
