Blount Partnership News & Events |
It's another busy week as the holidays near. It starts Wednesday with the 14th Annual Christmas Open House at the Chamber office from 8:30-10:30 a.m. The Partnership staff is cooking up some goodies you won't want to miss. If that's not enough good food and networking to get you going, you can get more at the final coffee club of 2013 at Accent on Home on Thursday at 7:45 a.m.
REGISTER FOR THE FREE BLOUNT TOURISM AMBASSADOR PROGRAM
More than 100 people have gone through the Blount Tourism Ambassador Program since the first class in August. This free program is where you'll learn facts about Blount County and this unique region that will help you better serve your customers, provide accurate information and give the "inside story" about our individual communities.
The BTAP's objective is to increase regional tourism by inspiring frontline hospitality employees and volunteers to turn every visitor encounter into a positive experience. This class inspires, trains and designates you as a Certified Tourism Ambassador. Certified Tourism Ambassadors enhance their capabilities to: (1) listen effectively to visitor inquiries and respond courteously and professionally; (b) know a great deal about the Blount County and Smoky Mountain area - its attributes, features and attractions; and (c) answer the majority of visitor questions (or refer them to those who can). Once certified, ambassadors will be recognized and rewarded in a variety of ways and have the opportunity to renew their certification annually to ensure they stay current.

REMEMBER WHEN
I go back to this week in 1989 when Billy Joel topped the charts for two weeks with a song that you either loved or hated. And since it was No. 1 on the Billboard chart for two weeks, I think most liked it. The song is "We Didn't Start the Fire." Its lyrics include brief, rapid-fire allusions to more than 100 headline events between January 1949 and 1989.
