We hope you had a great Thanksgiving and enjoyed Black Friday whether it was shopping or staying away from the stores. With Christmas less that four weeks away, there are still many events going on, including coffee club next Thursday at Accent on Home.

STILL A FEW SPOTS LEFT FOR FINAL 2013 BTAP CLASS
There's just a few spots left for the FREE Blount Tourism Ambassador Program class set for Dec. 18 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Blount County Public Library, 508 N. Cusick St., Maryville, Tenn. Sixty people have graduated in the first three classes which began in August. It only takes one class to become a Certified Tourism Ambassador.

The program objective is to increase regional tourism by inspiring frontline hospitality employees and volunteers to turn every visitor encounter into a positive experience. This class inspires, trains and designates you as a Certified Tourism Ambassador. Certified Tourism Ambassadors enhance their capabilities to: (1) listen effectively to visitor inquiries and respond courteously and professionally; (b) know a great deal about the Blount County and Smoky Mountain area - its attributes, features and attractions; and (c) answer the majority of visitor questions (or refer them to those who can). Once certified, ambassadors will be recognized and rewarded in a variety of ways and have the opportunity to renew their certification annually to ensure they stay current.

REMEMBER WHEN
I'm going way back to 1961 when Jimmy Dean's "Big Bad John" finished its five-week run atop the Billboard Music Charts. Composed by Dean and the legend Roy Acuff, it was released in Sept. 1961 and by the beginning of November it went to number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Dean was also presented the 1962 Grammy Award for Best Country & Western Recording.
