Blount Partnership News & Events

Even though Thursday is Halloween, be sure to join us that morning for coffee club at the Hearing and Speech Foundation (1652 E. Broadway, Maryville) before going trick or treating. So, come dressed in your costume and show it off. (I will be in costume so beware.)

Also, we are excited that in a little more than one week, the Business Excellence Awards will be held at the Clayton Center for the Arts. There are only a limited number of tickets remaining. (And I'm talking very few.) You don't want to miss out on this event with our special guest from Washington, D.C. Trust me, you'll want to be there and tell your friends what they missed the next day.

That being said, tickets are $30 for Chamber VIP members, $40 for Chamber members and $60 for the public. They are available at the Chamber office located at 201 S. Washington St. in Maryville, and by phone at 865.983.2241.

FANTASY OF TREES SNEAK PREVIEW
East Tennessee Children's Hospital is offering Chamber members a sneak preview of its annual Fantasy of Trees event at the Knoxville Convention Center on Wednesday, Nov. 27 at 8 a.m.

You will receive on ticket (per Chamber member) and have the ability to shop for holiday decor before anyone else. RSVP to Jessica Boyd with your name, name of your business and list yourself as a Blount County Chamber member.

YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS YOUR AD IN BASICALLY BLOUNT
It's that time of year when we start selling ads for the 2014 Basically Blount lifestyle magazine. We've added new features and other goodies for the 2014 edition. If you are interested, please check out the media kit.

TIME IS RUNNING OUT TO GET YOUR AD IN SMOKY MOUNTAIN VACATION GUIDE
If Basically Blount isn't your thing, consider an ad in the Partnership's 2014 Smoky Mountain Vacation Guide that highlights all the lodging, restaurants and attractions in the county. In addition to those listings, there's a special Cades Cove section and hiking and biking trail maps. If you are interested, please check out the media kit.

BECOME AN AMBASSADOR TO AID TOURISTS
Do you work in the tourism sector? Do you meet visitors in your position?

Then you need to become a certified Blount Tourism Ambassador where you'll learn facts about Blount County and this unique region that will help you better serve your customers, provide accurate information and give the "inside story" about our individual communities.

It only takes one class to become a Certified Tourism Ambassador. There are only two classes left this year. Pick one of the dates that works for you: Nov. 20 (at Laurel Valley Country Club) or Dec. 18 (at Blount County Library), then register for a free class at www.ctanetwork.com (click sign up for a class)

REMEMBER WHEN
This week in 1969 "I Can't Get Next to You" by The Temptations topped the Billboard Singles chart. The single was the second of The Temptations' four number-one hits on the United States pop charts, and was also one of the best-selling singles the group released.
