Wow, what a great event Pigs & Politics was last Thursday. The turnout was great and Calhoun's did a fabulous job with the food. A special thanks to Maryville College for hosting at Alumni Gym. TICKETS ON SALE FOR TASTE OF BLOUNT
Taste of Blount Tickets are now on sale for the 12th Annual Taste of Blount set for Thursday, Sept. 12 from 6-8 p.m. at the Theater in the Park next to the Blount County Courthouse in Maryville. Participants are still being lined up, but as always, it will be delicious. Additionally, The Royal Hounds are performing live.
 
Tickets are $25 for Chamber members, $30 for non-members, $15 for students with ID and available by calling 865.983.2241 or online.
 
HEATHER RIPLEY TO PRESENT AT "LUNCH BOX SERIES"
Heather Ripley of Ripley PR, LLC, is scheduled to be the guest presenter at the Aug. 30 Lunch Box Series hosted at the Chamber from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Her topic is "Connect. Engage. Expand - Integrating Social Engagement Into Your Communications Strategy," We'll discuss how to develop an interactive and engaged fan base and gain a competitive advantage with a global marketing reach.

COUNTRY MANOR ACRES OPEN HOUSE
April Jopling and her son, Country Music Artist Jeff Jopling, will be hosting an open house on their beautiful 50 Acre Estate, Country Manor Acres, in Townsend, Tenn., on Sunday, September 8, 2013 from 4:30-8:30 p.m. The open house will be hosted in conjunction with the Blount County Wedding Professionals Association, with a brief showcase concert by the Jeff Jopling Band, followed by a drawing for valuable prizes at the end of the evening, with the grand prize worth $1000. BLOUNT COUNTY PR ROUNDTABLE AUG. 21 TO SHARE EDUCATION-FOCUSED OUTREACH STRATEGIES
School is getting back in session across East Tennessee, and the recently launched Blount County Public Relations Quarterly Roundtable will focus its second panel discussion Aug. 21 on the topic, "Leveraging Educational Support as a PR Strategy for Community Outreach, Media Relations and Social Media."
 
Roundtable leaders will include Sharon Anglim, director of communications for Maryville City Schools; Melissa Ogden, director of public affairs for Knox County Schools; Graham Thomas, director of college access for tnAchieves; and Barbara Jenkins, executive director of the Maryville City Schools Foundation.
 
The roundtable will take place Wed., Aug. 21, at Compass House at the rear of the building of the former Ft. Craig School (now the Boys & Girls Club), 520 S. Washington St., Maryville, Tenn., from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. A light lunch will be served; $5 Dutch treat.
 
The roundtable is open to the public, particularly public relations and marketing communications professionals from Blount County and beyond who want to engage with their colleagues in idea-exchanges and best practices for successful communications strategies.
 
This session will focus on how to integrate corporate, non-profit or governmental agency support for education with effective brand, reputation and relationship-building. Participants are invited to share their ideas and past experiences with support for education as part of a larger public relations strategy.

BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB OF BLOUNT COUNTY NEEDS YOUR HELP FOR KaBOOM!
We need excited and eager volunteers to help prepare the playground site and/or participate in the playground Build Day. We need volunteers for various levels of work, ranging from working the registration booth to installing the playground itself.
 
We will need the most volunteers on Build Day, Sept. 21. But, we also need volunteers on a Site Prep Day, Sept. 19, and some standby volunteers for Sept. 20, if a second Site Prep Day is needed. More info on KaBoom!
