"Mill Creek/Peaks Branch/State Thomas Drainage Relief Tunnel"
Halff Associates, Inc.
Drainage relief for the Mill Creek / Peaks Branch / State Thomas areas will be accomplished through the design and construction of a single 30-foot diameter, 27,000-foot long drainage relief tunnel. The deep tunnel will provide drainage relief to these frequently flooded areas of Dallas. The tunnel will be mined in the Austin Chalk formation between 70 and 150 feet below the surface and will outfall to White Rock Creek.
About the Speaker:
Todd Woodson served as the project manager for Mill Creek & Peaks Branch Tunnel in Dallas. Todd has 18 years of experience in design, management, and construction of heavy-civil projects. His design expertise includes airfield, military construction, land development, transportation and drainage-relief projects. He has managed such projects as the DFW International Airport, Terminal D, Perimeter Apron Paving Project; the Kilby Center East at Texas Instruments North Central Expressway location in Dallas and various assignments for USACE and AAFES at Fort Bliss, Texas, Fort Polk, Louisiana, Redstone Arsenal in Alabama and Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina. Todd received his bachelor of science in civil engineering from Texas A&M University.
Cost for the Lunch:
The cost for this lunch is $25 for members, $30 for non-members, and $20 for public agency officials. For reservations made after the preceding Monday (June 9th), the cost for lunch will be $30 for members, $35 for non-members, and $25 for public agency officials. Please make any cancellations at least 24 hours prior to the meeting. If you RSVP and you do not cancel in time, you will be charged for the meal, because TSPE has to pay for all the meals we RSVP for.
As my term nears its completion, I would like to thank all the board members, committee chairs, and volunteers for helping this administration accomplish so many things. As I had mentioned at the beginning of my term, one of my goals was to see more of our TSPE members being involved with community volunteering opportunities. I believe we have accomplished this goal through the fundraising for our military troops, the fund raising and volunteering at the North Texas Food Bank and volunteers at the Bridge's soup kitchen (Second Chance Café). It has been a privilege to have served as your TSPE Dallas Chapter president. It has been an honor also to have worked the board staff, committee chairs and all the volunteers. I thank you for all your support and your work for this chapter. I look forward to continuing my participation in the chapter as your Past President and supporting our upcoming president, Mr. Caleb Thornhill, PE.
I hope you can all join us in our upcoming June meeting. We will have Mr. Todd Woodson, PE with Halff Associates, give us a presentation on the Mill Creek/Peaks Branch/State Thomas Drainage Relief Tunnel.
Our June luncheon meeting will be on Thursday June 12, 2014 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM, at Maggiano's Little Italy Northpark Center. Join us for an informative luncheon.
