President's Message

Fellow members,

National Engineers Week is this month!

The annual TSPE Dallas Chapter Engineers Week Luncheon, which celebrates engineering and raises money for our annual scholarships, celebrates and highlights our colleagues' accomplishments. The Engineers Week Luncheon is our largest celebration for the TSPE Dallas Chapter. It allows the engineering community to come together to celebrate engineering and showcases the rewards to be gained through volunteering with TSPE Dallas Chapter, including networking with other community engineering leaders, personal leadership development and satisfaction for giving back to the community and the engineering profession. This is our month not just our week. I hope you all recall how each one of you chose the engineering profession and how certain individuals (parents, teachers, professors, friends) in your life had a part in guiding you and helping you. We will be celebrating Engineer's Week on Thursday, February 27th, at the Plano Centre. You can still sponsor and register for this event, go to: www.tspeengineersweek.com for more information. We will be having a great program and event. Also, we are looking for volunteers to help out with the raffle and registration for the event. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Kristine Swope at kschwope@hotmail.com

Moreover, I want to mention MATHCOUTNS. MATHCOUNTS is a nationwide math enrichment, coaching and competition program for 6th-8th grade students. Interested volunteers can get involved by donating a half-day's time to facilitate the competition day; donating money or supplies to help make the competition day a success; or even volunteer to start a MATHCOUNTS program at your local middle school. By volunteering, not only can you enable a child to showcase his/her math talents, but you can also give back and serve the community that likely provided you with opportunities along the way.

MATHCOUNTS is coming up! February 8th at SMU. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS, if you are interested in volunteering please contact Cynthia Fields c.fields@vrxglobal.com. I will be volunteering for this event, hope to see you all there.

Dallas TSPE needs your help!

Please support Region V - TSPE by volunteering for 2014 MATHCOUNTS Dallas Chapter Competition.

MATHCOUNTS is a competition hosted by individual local TSPE chapters for middle school students to help promote science, technology and engineering fields. Please come and join the fun!!

Duties for volunteers include grading tests (answer keys provided - no calculations required), proctoring testing rooms and assisting with set-up. This is a fun, easy and incredible opportunity to network with others involved in the Engineering community!
