We hope that you'll spend time with the TSPE Dallas Chapter on December 13th! Our December Meeting is always our largest meeting of the year and a fun holiday celebration...
- Earn your Ethics PDH... Lance Kinney, TBPE Executive Director will present a full hour of ethics credit for PE's.
- Santa, PE and Mrs. Claus will be in attendance! And they are always gracious to pose for pictures so that you can tell your kids and grandkids that you've got an inside connection to the North Pole!
- North Texas Food Bank Raffle... During this time of year, we always like to assist those in our community that are less fortunate... our December Raffle will benefit the North Texas Food Bank. STEM Academy - Volunteers Needed
"Engineers are so cool!" "When I grow up, I want to be an engineer!" Engineers are the new rock stars at Cannon Elementary in Grapevine, Texas as the school transitions into one of the few STEM Elementary School Academies in North Texas. Want to be a part of growing these future engineers? Please volunteer your expertise with Cannon Elementary STEM Academy students (K-5).
What a STEM Academy? It is project-based learning that can increase student interest in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) because they involve students in solving authentic problems, working with others, and building real solutions. Through this integrated approach to STEM education, the kids are focused on real-world, authentic problems, students learn to reflect on the problem-solving process. Research tells us that students learn best when encouraged to construct their own knowledge of the world around them.
How can I help? Different needs range from answering a question on the blog, skyping or making classroom presentations to directing a design challenge for grade.
Signing up is easy. Go to www.edmodo.com and sign up as a teacher. From there click the Join a Group on the left hand side and use the group # nbtt5f. You will be directed into the group.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Hattie Peterson at (214) 346-3236 or hpeterson@halff.com.
