WAYS TO VOLUNTEER

Volunteer for the MCCPTA:  Would you like to be more involved in helping to formulate education policy in the county?  MCCPTA, the county council of PTAs, is seeing individuals who would like to take on a leadership role in supporting the three-fold mission of PTA:

  • To support and speak on behalf of children and youth in our schools, in the community, and before governmental agencies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children.
  • To assist parents in developing the skills they need to rear and protect their children, and
  • To encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation.
The RM Cluster needs people who will serve as Cluster Coordinators and will represent the cluster schools in MCCPTA. This is a great way to have an impact on issues that affect children all over the county, in addition to the students at Ritchie Park. Jennifer Young and Cheryl Moss Herman are currently two of the RM Cluster Coordinators. Please contact them if you have any questions.

Advocacy
ADVOCACY CORNER

The quality of our children's education can not be compromised by concerns for their safety. Hear from our elected officials, MCPS security department, our local police and those responsible for the safe environment in our community what is being done to keep our children safe and how we can help. The Montgomery County Council of PTAs Safety Committee, led by Donna Pfeiffer and Susan Burkinshaw, brought everyone to the table for a riveting discussion on January 16 that was covered widely by local media and will be re-broadcast on Saturdays and Sundays at 9:30pm January 26 & 27 and February 2 & 3 on Comcast channel 34, Verizon channel 36 and RCN channel 89.
