HITECH: Expands the Scope of HIPPA

In 2012, the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) kicked off their HIPAA Audit Pilot Program, which was designed to assess HIPAA compliance efforts for a range of covered entities. The initial 20 audits have been completed and Linda Sanches OCR Senior Advisor and the lead on HIPAA Compliance Audits related that 81 percent of the providers had findings.
