Friday Night - Live Music and Grilling

Grilling starts at 5:00

Music starts at 5:30

This week, the return of
One Part Luck

John Bye and Peg Cowen are back in action!
We could not be happier!

Earlier this summer while One Part Luck was on tour in the Southeast, Peg had a serious accident requiring medical attention and lots of follow-up therapy. With steadfast support from John and others in the community, Peg has been on a long-term recovery regimen. She has applied the same intensity she brings to her music and is back in action in record time.

Why the name One Part Luck? Click HERE and scroll down for the answer. With their triumphant return, we consider it at least Two Parts Luck. Come Friday night, hear some great music and welcome John and Peg back.

Toast their return with your favorite beer and wine and enjoy the BBQ.

Purchase beer or wine to enjoy with your food
(outside only). We will supply corkscrews and cups.
If rain sends us inside, alcohol cannot come with you. Thanks.

Saturday Lunch - Live Music and Grilling

 Grilling starts at 11:00

Ribs and kabobs
(shrimp, veggie, or chicken),
local grass-fed burgers, and more!

Music starts at 11:30
Featuring Jack Swindlehurst

(aka Jack Henry, the
Steel Drivin' Man)

SONGS OF LOVE AND LIFE

Jack grew up listening to music borrowed from the local library in Middletown, Connecticut: the Kingston Trio, the Chad Mitchell Trio, Beethoven, the Smothers Brothers, and the Beatles. They all influenced Jack's early creative drive to write songs of love and life. Some forty years and seventy songs later, Jack still performs a few of those early original works. Later influences were Cat Stevens, Bob Dylan, the Grateful Dead, the Rolling Stones, The Band, Leon Redbone, and many more.

Jack is still writing songs and the subject matter is still Love and Life.

GMO Labeling Update
Choose not to give up on your right to choose!

In May 2014 Vermont passed a clear GMO labeling bill that went into effect in July 2016. Connecticut and Maine passed similar bills and were about to follow suit. Big Food giants like Campbell's, Mars, and Dannon have already committed to clearly label GMOs on all their products. It felt like a tipping point had been reached and that GMO labeling would roll out across the country, and we would join most of the world in allowing consumers to choose what they want to eat.

In a second attempt to pass the DARK Act (Deny Americans the Right to Know), money won. And President Obama signed a bad law, breaking a campaign promise he made leading up to his 2008 election. Monsanto, DuPont, and other Big Food companies spent $101 million in 2015 lobbying to avert GMO labeling and continued this feverish spending into 2016. This law is bad because it preempts all state laws on GMO labeling and allows GMO disclosure using QR codes (that square bar code box that can only be read with a smartphone and internet access). One hundred million Americans do not have smartphones and internet access. And how many of those that do will stop to verify QR codes when they shop?

Over 90% of the U.S. population supports GMO labeling. See poll results HERE.

If additional large food companies hear our voices, we can make this happen. With just a couple clicks, Just Label It will let many of these companies know how YOU feel. Please CLICK HERE to take action.
