Butter to Believe In
Ploughgate Creamery's cultured butter is made from fresh Vermont cream sourced from the St. Albans Coop. All this week the Creamery staff has been loving the sample that was hand delivered by Marisa Mauro, the buttermaker and entrepreneur behind Ploughgate Creamery. Marisa won the right to purchase the historic Bragg Farm from the Vermont Land Trust through a competition in which young farmers submitted agricultural business plans for the use of the land. Marisa's business plan was picked from among 13 applicants, and she began producing butter there in 2014. We are so happy she won!
Marisa cultures the cream for 48 hours before churning, giving her butter a distinct tangy, nutty, and slightly cheesy flavor. The Creamery's first shipment will be here this weekend in the specialty cheese case--right where this treasure belongs.
Come have your own taste this weekend.
We think you'll love it as much as we do. |
