Earth Day's 45th Anniversary
On the very first Earth Day, (April 22, 1970) 20 million people gathered in the streets of America to protest what was being done to our environment. A movement was born as a result. Every year on April 22, men, women, and children worldwide collect garbage, plant trees, clean up coral reefs, show movies, sign petitions, and plan for a better future for our planet.

First Coffee or Tea in your own mug FREE This coming Earth Day week (Mon-Fri) customers who purchase their hot coffee or tea in their own mug can have the first drink free, each day. If you've been thinking about buying a travel mug, our highly-rated Creamery travel mugs and French press mugs will be 10% off all week. Coffee in your own cup saves you money. We charge less because you reduce the cost to the store and to the environment. You win, we win, the earth wins and in a few months the cost of the mug is recovered. You may recall that we had a contest last Earth Day where we gave mugs away to customer with the closest guesses of how many paper hot cups we used in the prior year. It was actually 26,450 cups at an annual cost of around $5,000 (including lids) Yes, our little store was adding that much to the waste stream. (Now, what do you suppose a typical Duncan Donuts contributes?)Together we can all bring that down. To further show our appreciation for all of you who bring in your own mugs to avoid throw-away hot cups we are launching TRAVEL MUG TUESDAYS Bring in your travel mug EVERY TUESDAY for a free hot coffee or tea.
(One fill-up per day, iced coffee and other beverages not included)
Many thanks to all of you who are helping in our collective effort to use fewer throw-away hot cups.

Sew for the Planet
On Earth Day 2008 the Creamery went disposable bag free thanks to the great efforts of The Bagshare Project. This Earth Day Serios Market in Northampton is hoping to do the same.
The dedicated folks at the Bagshare Project schedule periodic "sews" to replenish the supply of bags in circulation for several area retail outlets. There are two sews coming up that will be sewing bags for the Creamery. These are held in the Bagshare Sewing Center in the basement of the Cummington Community House and generally turn out to be fun community gatherings with no sewing experience required. Please RSVP Peg Cowen if you will assist on...
Saturday, May 2, 10 - 1; or Friday May 29, 9 - 12.
...to help sew some bags for The Old Creamery Co-op. And if you happen to have a stash of Bagshare bags waiting to get back into circulation please return them to the Creamery. Thanks.
