Deli Hours to Be Temporarily Reduced

In the last couple of weeks, we have lost three deli staff members who together comprised about one-third of our deli staff hours. One moved back home to Minnesota and the two others have accepted full-time positions in Northampton. We wish them all the best in their new ventures. The rest of our staff is stepping up with all the additional time they are able to give, but full coverage can't be provided at this time.

While we are in this temporary situation we will be closing the deli at 6:30 p.m. starting on Monday, May 12, which is one hour before the store closes. If you know you will need items from the deli later than 6:30, just call us (634-5560) before 6:00 and we will have your order packed and ready for you when you come in before store closing. We will also stock the Grab and Go case with additional items, and you will still be able to order from the pastry case until the store closes.

We've been getting the word out about these job openings, and applications are starting to come in. Anyone interested in applying for a job in the deli can visit THIS LINK where they can read an overview of the position and download an application.

Hiring the right deli staff and getting them fully trained will take some time.

We regret any inconvenience this may cause, and we will do what we can to keep that to a minimum.

Thank you for your patience and support while we work through this challenge.

Fresh, Local, Produce Available Now!

This week we added local, organic, baby kale to the loose greens selection. This wonderful food comes from Kitchen Garden Farms.

Fresh fruits continue to be more available and we are stocking the Grab and Go case for your "coming out of winter" pleasure.

We have locally grown hanging plants just in time for Mother's Day!

And don't forget to pick up your veggie starts outside the west entrance.

And the winner is...

Thanks to all who participated in our Cup Contest! Fifty-nine people took a guess at how many paper hot-cups were used at the Old Creamery in the past year. There were twenty-six guesses of 10,000 or less, and the range of all guesses was from 500 to 295,000 cups.

The actual number, give or take a few, is--drum roll, please--26,450 cups. The cost for the hot cups and lids used in the past year was $5,000.

Carolyn Hawthorne had the closest guess and wins a Creamery travel mug. The two runners-up are Ruby Rothenberg and Russ Mader, who each win a Creamery ceramic coffee mug.

We are happy to say that the new travel mugs with the Creamery logo are selling well (and yes, they do keep liquids hot or cold for quite some time). We will be getting a new shipment in soon, and additional colors will be available.

Don't forget--your coffee costs less when you bring your own mug! The price of coffee has increased, and we must raise our coffee prices. However, when you buy coffee in your own cup, you will always pay less. If you are someone who buys a large coffee five days a week, you could cover the cost of a travel mug in just a couple of months. After that you simply save money over the rest of that year!

We Found a Woman's Ring!

As we reported last week, we've found a ring at the Creamery. If you lost a ring or know someone who may have, please get in touch with Michael, the Creamery's general manager, so we can get this back on the owner's finger.
