Member-Owner Appreciation Weekend

Saturday, May 3, or Sunday, May 4: Pick your day to be appreciated! Give us your member-owner number (or name) and enjoy 10% off* all day.

The Creamery will be sporting a festive atmosphere with music in the early afternoon both days, and lots of savings. Enjoy samplings throughout the weekend from local suppliers' as well as Creamery-made goodies.

If you are not yet a member-owner, you can join the Co-op this Saturday or Sunday and immediately take advantage of 10% off all day. Membership brochures can be downloaded HERE or picked up in the store at the registers.

Thank You for shopping at the Co-op. We look forward to seeing you this weekend.

*As on other appreciation days, there are a few exceptions: tobacco, alcohol, newspapers, and items from the Little Gallery cannot be included in the member-owner discounts.

Last Chance to Enter the Contest!

Can you guess how many paper hot-cups were used at the Creamery in the last 12 months? (That's just the paper cups used for coffee, tea, and other hot drinks.)

There is a glass jar for your best guess (and name and phone number) at the checkout counter. One guess per person, please.

Next Monday, following appreciation weekend, we will draw the contest winners! First prize, for the closest guess, is a high-quality double-walled stainless steel-lined Creamery travel mug. This mug will keep your tea or coffee hot for hours. The second and third closest guessers will receive an Old Creamery ceramic mug.

Good luck! And if you do not win this contest, these mugs are for sale in the store. We're keeping the price low to encourage the use of reuseable cups, and don't forget, when you get coffee of tea in your own cup, you pay less--the cup will pay for itself in no time! You win and the environment wins!

We Found a Woman's Ring!

If you lost a ring (or know someone who may have), please get in touch with Michael, the Creamery's general manager, and discuss how we can get this back on the finger of the owner.

Spring has finally sprung...

...and our farmers are growing!

Kitchen Garden Farm in Sunderland is bringing us Spicy Mustard Mix (not so spicy but with an incredible flavor, color, and texture); Baby Spinach; Young Arugula, spring-dug Parsnips, and young Scallion bunches.

Jackson Mansfield is also digging Wild Leeks for us (also know as Ramps). These are a spicy spring allium that grow wild in our dark woodland soils. They're an incredible cleansing vegetable with a lot of kick, perfect with eggs, sautéed with balsamic vinegar and maple syrup, or pickled.

Peter is also continuing to cut and pack fruits and fruit salads for a quick lunch treat in our Grab & Go case.

And don't forget to grow some of your own! We've got vegetable starts from Windy Ridge Farm for $3.99 a six-pack; these are cold-hardy and ready to go in the ground now! We have Red Russian Kale, Cabbages, Broccoli, Lettuce, Cauliflower, with more to come as the weeks get warmer.

Don't forget to grab some seeds: you can plant peas, salad greens, kale, radishes right now.

New Additions to the Beverage Cooler

For the (hopefully-soon-to-be-here) summer months, we have added Calypso Lemonades in both Strawberry and Black Cherry (Desiree used to make a special trip to the Creamery for these during especially hot summer haying days). These are made with cane sugar instead of high-fructose corn syrup--very refreshing with a lovely lemony bite.

We have also brought in two kinds of Harney & Sons Organic Teas: Lemonade and Black Tea (also called Half & Half or Arnold Palmer's) and Black Currant Black Tea. These are a not-so-sweet alternative to the sugary Snapples and Joe's Teas and still have a little caffeine.

We've added additional flavors of Boylan Natural Sodas: Creamy Birch Beer and their special limited edition, Shirley Temple (a delicious combination of their refreshing ginger ale and cherry syrup).

Other New Products This Week

Gluten-Free Granola from Back Roads Granola of Brattleboro VT. in retail packages. Delicious with lots of nuts and fruit, 100% organic, and non-GMO. Look for it in our cereal section.

Dried Calimyrna Figs from Made in Nature are now to be found in the snacks section. These are unsulfured and unsweetened yet moist and delicious. A great fiber-filled, satisfying snack.

Organic Frozen Concentrated Lemonade and Orange Juice from Cascadian Farms, a less expensive way to get organic juice! Desiree likes to add scoops of frozen lemonade to fresh brewed black tea in the summertime to make a quick Half & Half (you can also add a favorite fruit tea bag to the brew) for an electrolyte-boosting refreshment on soon-to-be-hot days.
