Shop by Colors
As you wander through the store you will notice that colors are beginning to show up on many of our shelf tags. We are implementing a color coded system to let people more easily locate product attributes that are important to them.
On the left side of this photo you will notice GREEN tags (somewhat light in this photo but much more visible in the store). GREEN is for Local products (produced within 100 miles). We are continuously looking for opportunities to bring in local products and we want shoppers to be aware they are supporting our local economies when they purchase these products. Our MUSTARD colored tags are for GLUTEN FREE products. This is a very important product characteristic for a growing number of shoppers.
BLUE is the color adopted by Mass Right To Know and volunteers from that group are assisting us with the placement of BLUE dots on all products in the store that are GMO free. The lion's share of this work is done but if you spot a product that should have a colored tag or dot please let us know.

Start Thinking Spring!
Our first batch of seeds has arrived.
The days are getting longer.
It is time to be imagining your fingers in the warm soil.
While you are enjoying these projections into the not-so-distant future give some thought to planting cutting flowers for the cafe tables in the Creamery. We welcome all contributions.

Food For Change
Saturday, Feb 1, 2:00 PM @ Northampton Academy of Music
This important documentary is presented by River Valley Market and co-sponsored area co-ops, including yours. As reported in the Republican by Rebecca Rideout,
"When local producer Steve Alves began researching the history of food co-operatives for his recent film, he found a deep history that stretched across the country and through decades of struggle. ".............. I was shocked to find a whole wall of books at the library," Alves said in a recent interview in his office in Turners Falls. Six years later, that research has formed the basis of the 84-minute film "Food for Change" that will screen at Northampton's Academy of Music on Feb 1. "It's nice when you can bring something new to the public," he said." READ MORE
We have some tickets remaining for sale at the Creamery or you can purchase them at the Academy of Music box office.

Deli- Bakery Update
We are still scooping Bart's Vanilla Ice Cream! We don't sell enough ice cream during the winter to allow us to offer a variety of flavors, but we're continuing to offer vanilla; have a scoop on your next piece of pie! (And we still have chocolate sprinkles.)

How much did you support our co-op in 2013?
A few Member-Owners have recently asked us to tell them what they spent at the Co-op in 2013. In their words they "wanted to make a personal plan to increase Co-op purchases for 2014".
If you are a co-op member-owner and would like to have a copy of your 2013 monthly purchases send us an email with your member-owner number and let us know. Or ask the cashier for a Patronage Report for member-owner #____? and tell us if we should leave it at the register in a sealed envelope or if you prefer we mail it to you.
Thank you for your patronage.
