The ATM is up and running!
That's right, here in Cummington, a full service, state-of-the-art ATM from Florence Savings Bank. Cash when you need it! And you can deposit your checks or cash directly to your account with no envelopes. No paperwork to fill out because this machine reads checks front and back and counts bills. With fewer trips to Williamsburg or beyond to do our banking, we save on gas. This ATM is open 24/7 on our well lit patio.

Take two minutes to help the Co-op Save
Don't have enough cash on you? Don't wish to write a check? Consider getting cash from the ATM before you shop. Since we opened as a Co-op last November our fees for credit/debit card purchases have been $11,278. That's an expense we would love to reduce or eliminate as it does nothing to help our business, and our prices need to cover that expense.
Want more convenience and ease at the checkout? Open a prepaid account (We call it a Gift Card account) Once opened the cashier will ask you if you would like to put your purchase on your card balance. When you choose to do that there is no other transaction required. Your receipt reflects both your purchases and your remaining balance. You can recharge your card at any time.
Get cash from the ATM or use your gift card to help keep our Co-op's expenses in check. Thanks.

Speak Up! 20 October is our First Annual Member-Owner meeting
This meeting is an important opportunity for you, the member-owners, to learn about the Co-op's status, accomplishments, and upcoming challenges and to cast your votes for members of the Board of Directors for the next year. Cooperative democracy in action!
The meeting will be held on Sunday October 20th in the Cummington Community House on Main Street at 3:00 p.m. In addition to social time and reports from the president, treasurer and general manager about the Co-op's status, accomplishments and upcoming challenges, we want to allow sufficient time for conversation and questions. The Co-op board will finalize the agenda for this meeting at its October 8, 2013 board meeting.
So that we can be sure to address your questions, concerns, and ideas it would be helpful if you could submit your thoughts to the Board ahead of time. Jot them down and send your thoughts via email to board@oldcreamery.coop. Responses by Sunday October 6th would be most helpful.
Stay tuned for more information via this newsletter. If you are a member-owner of the co-op you will receive a mailed packet this week containing the ballot and other information. We look forward to seeing you all at this fun and important meeting of our Co-op. Thank you!
Kimberly Longey,
President,
Old Creamery Co-op
Board of Directors

Camille attended appreciation day.
Our new sign was installed at the East entrance to the Co-op just before our Member-Owner Appreciation Day. Those able to attend were pressing cider under the sign while Bart's Ice Cream was dishing out free samples of their great product in the corner of the beautifully laid new patio. Inside the store we provided many free samples of Creamery made products as well as those of selected suppliers. We hosted a book signing by Alan Weisman, and a string quartet played over the lunch hour. These were a few of the highlights of a full and fun day. We enjoyed seeing all of you who were able to make it last Saturday.

Perennials - free for the taking on your next visit.
As many of you have noticed we have opened the East lot with greatly expanded parking. Next we will construct the entrance from Route 9 and install roadside curbs. A flower garden needed to be removed for this entrance. That garden contained a few shrubs and quite a number of iris tubers. These were carefully set aside at the far end of this parking lot. We have a landscaping plan in the works and will be reusing what we can and may be looking for plant donations in the Spring. Please take what you think you can use and give these plants a new home. We would love to see a "Touch of The Old Creamery" scattered to many of your gardens and we will invite you to supply some off-spring when we are ready.

Many items are on sale every week at the Creamery. Look for the brightly colored shelf tags. These items are 15%-45% off regular prices. We work hard to find bargains on many different items, including staple groceries, treats like chocolate, juices, refrigerated items, personal care products, and supplements. The shelf tags indicate when the sale price expires. Some sale items are one-time opportunities that remain on sale until sold out. Many are purchasing opportunities that can be replenished over several weeks at great prices. Enjoy the savings!
