July 4th Activities
Come enjoy a fun time as the community gathers to celebrate Independence Day! The City of Moreno Valley will host its annual Independence Day Parade in the morning, beginning at 9:30 a.m. The Family FunFest follows with gates opening at 1 p.m. at Morrison Park / Mountain View Middle School. City residents and visitors look forward to this event year after year. The fun-filled day is complete with great live music and a spectacular fireworks show. SummerSafety

The Moreno Valley Fire Department would like to remind residents and visitors that personal use of fireworks is illegal in Riverside County. This means you may not sell, purchase, transport, store, or use fireworks in Riverside County. Please visit the Riverside County Fire website at www.rvcfire.org to view a list of approved fireworks shows in Riverside County and www.moval.org/fourth for details regarding the City of Moreno Valley's 4th of July parade and Family FunFest.


As summer approaches, activities, gatherings and outdoor cooking become a huge family favorite. In order to keep yourself and your family safe, the Moreno Valley Fire Department offers several safety tips online. Click here for General Barbecue Safety Tips and Pool Safety Tips

Cooling Centers
  


 
When temperatures are expected to be in the triple digits, the City of Moreno Valley provides two Cooling Centers to assist residents escape the heat. The Cooling Centers will be available at the following locations and times:    


Moreno Valley Library
, 25480 Alessandro Blvd.
  • Monday-Thursday 9am - 8pm
  • Friday 9am - 6pm
  • Saturday 9am - 5pm
  • Sunday 12pm - 5pm
Moreno Valley Senior Center, 25075 Fir Ave.
  • Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm 
  • Saturday - Sunday 8am - 4pm- ONLY WHEN TEMPS REACH 100 DEGREES, OTHERWISE SENIOR CENTER IS CLOSED.
The Moreno Valley Unified School District will open two pools for open swim ($2 fee) through August 5th, Monday - Friday from 1pm - 4pm at the following locations:
  • Canyon Springs High School, 23100 Cougar Canyon Road
  • Valley View High School, 13135 Nason Street

ValleySkatePark
Valley Skate Park
 


Valley Skate Park offers a variety of obstacles for adventure seekers of any age and skill level. The park is complete with ramps, rails, bowls, and stairs. Riders are welcome to bring their equipment of choice including skateboards, scooters, roller skates, and bikes. All riders are required to wear helmets. Helmets are available for rent upon request.
 
Entry fees: $2 for residents and $3 for non-residents.
Annual membership: $30 (cost is $1 each visit with membership)


Summer hours of operation: 5pm-10pm nightly

Join Library staff every Thursday night to participate in fun, creative projects for all ages. Family Fun Night includes crafts, music, and stories for the entire family. The fun happens every Thursday at 6:00pm in the Storyroom.
