Mayor Jesse L. Molina delivered the 2014 State of the City Address this afternoon at a luncheon event hosted by the Moreno Valley Chamber of Commerce. At the event, the Mayor reviewed the City's efforts to:
  • Lead with fiscal responsibility
  • Promote public safety
  • Steer job creation
  • Connect with citizens and businesses

The event also included a time of reflection by Council Member Stewart as he winds up his twenty-four years. For residents and others who may be interested in the information presented at the event, the City has developed a webpage, which contains a link to a recording of the entire program and text for Mayor Molina's speech, the content of the video, and Council Member Stewart's comments.

To watch the program, please go to www.moval.org. The program will also be played on MVTV-3 daily at 8 a.m., 5 p.m., and 8 p.m.

Moreno Valley businesses experienced overall fiscal year 13/14 sales growth of 6.1% compared with FY 2012/13, including allocations from the County and State Pools. This growth ranked Moreno Valley 12th of 28 incorporated Riverside County cities. This year was the 4th consecutive year of sales growth and Moreno Valley's single best year of sales performance with the data reflecting retail sales at almost $1.4 billion. Areas of opportunity remain for retail sales in the Business & Industry Major Industry Group and retail gap analysis suggests that significant potential sales increases may be possible for businesses that can recapture Moreno Valley residents who may be traveling outside the City to complete purchases.

Emergency Preparedness and Back to School

There is a lot that can be done by school officials to plan for disasters, to limit the risk, to protect the safety of students and teachers, and to ensure that schools recover quickly. However, the time to prepare is now!  Parents have an important role in ensuring the safety of their children whether at school or at home.  Prepare a school emergency supplies kit for each of your children.  Click here for suggestions on what to assemble.  Teach your children what to do in an emergency and make sure they know their own names, addresses, and telephone numbers as well as the full names and contact information for parents and a second adult emergency contact.  For additional information, please contact the Office of Emergency Management at 951.413.3800
