Cari Amici dell'Italia,
Seguiteci su FACEBOOK e su TWITTER e buona lettura a Tutti

Dear Friends of Italy:
We continue to work to create the ITALIAN CULTURAL CENTER OF BOSTON after the success of the fundraiser "italianissimo" that took place on June 7th. I will keep you posted on the developments. For more information on the project, please visit www.ficcb.it.
I would like to highlight three events for the month of July. The first "ITALIAN LANGUAGE SUMMER CAMP" organized by CASIT will run from July 8 until July 19 for children of ages 4 to 9. Unfortunately my son is too young, but I suggest anyone interested to contact Gioconda Motta (617-939-4216): capacity is limited! Regarding Italian activities for children, after the great success of its first edition, save the date November 15th for the second edition of the "Notte Italiana" at the Children's Museum.
Do not miss the premiere of "NOTTE DELLA TARANTA" AT THE BOSTON COMMON ON JULY 14 AT 5PM, as part of the "Outside the Box" Multi-Art Festival.
On July 27th VERDI'S REQUIEM WILL BE PERFORMED AT TANGLEWOOD, within the Year of the Italian Culture in the United States.
Please find attached an updated version of the CALENDAR OF UPCOMING EVENTS FOR THE YEAR OF ITALIAN CULTURE.
I wish you a happy summer and we will see you in September as we take a short break from our Newsletter in August.
Follow us on FACEBOOK and TWITTER and happy reading to all!

July 6 - 28 Boston Common
The Two Gentlemen Of Verona
Commonwealth Shakespeare Company - Directed by Steven Maler
This summer for our 18th season of Free Shakespeare on the Common, we are proud to present the comedy The TwoGentlemen of Verona.
"Two Gents" tells the tale of two friends who leave their hometown of Verona to find their happy fortunes in Milan. Instead, they find temptation, trickery, and trouble as they vie for favor with the high-society Duke... and his debutante daughter. All are drawn into a web of disguise and secrecy where the last thing anyone wants is for the truth to surface -- least of all the dog.Inspired by Rat Pack-era Vegas -- the glamour, the hedonism, and the morning after agonies -- the production brings new meaning to the line "what happens in Milan, stays in Milan..."
Free and open to the public.

Cettina Donato live at Regattabar
(1968) dir Sergio Corbucci w/Franco Nero, Jack Palance, Tony Musante, Giovanna Ralli [111 min]
 | Cettina Donato |
Italian pianist, composer, arranger, Cettina Donato started playing drums at the age of 6. She graduated in Classical Piano, Classical Composition, Jazz Piano and in Musical Didactic at the Conservatory of Messina in Italy. [...] In 2008 Cettina attended the Berklee College's Clinics at Umbria Jazz festival in Perugia (Italy) where she met the jazz legend Herbie Hancock who has been for her a great inspiration. After having listened to Cettina's music, Herbie strongly recommended Cettina to keep playing and writing the music she composed. After a couple of days, at Berklee Clinics at Umbria Jazz Festival 2008, Cettina gained a scholarship in order to attend the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Cettina graduated at Berklee College on December 2011 majoring in Jazz Composition. She had the pleasure to study and play with some of the most important jazz musicians as Ray Santisi, Joanne Brackeen, Marc Rossi, Hal Galper, Adam Nussbaum, Billy Harper, Bob Mintzer, Laszlo Gardony and many others.
In January 2013 her new album Cettina Donato Orchestra CRESCENDO, recorded in Boston in May 2012 with a Big Band and a String quartet was published by an Italian label called Jazzy Record.
At Regattabar, she will perform all her original compositions and arrangements from her album Crescendo which was recorded live with a big band and a string quartet.
