Important Announcements

Parking this Week
Faculty will be parking off campus this week to allow more parking for parents for various events. We strongly encourage everyone to use the carpool line for drop off. If you choose to walk your child in, please use the EDS parking lot and the small Reid Memorial Church parking lot directly across the street from the EDS exit. Please DO NOT use any other Reid parking lots.

New Carpool Procedures
Please review the new carpool procedures. There will be many staff and fifth graders to assist your children out of the car. Parents should remain in their vehicles at all times and refrain from using cell phones during carpool.

Website Issues
Thank you for your patience as EDS continues to work on intermittent website and forms access issues. If you have any questions or difficulties to report, please email Liz Owens, Coodinator of Technology.

Interested in being on the EDS Substitute Teacher List?
You may apply to be on the sub list for specific days of the week and/or hours that are best for you. Please print and fill out an application from the Employment Opportunities page of the EDS website and turn in to the front office. An administrator will contact you to schedule an interview.
New Website Calendar

Over the summer, I went on a hunt for a more user-friendly website calendar interface that would encompass all the special requirements for  our school, parents, and calendar administrators.

The technology team and I considered many options, and we are proud to introduce the new interface, now available on the calendar page of the EDS website.

This interface should be easy to read and navigate. Here are a few pointers to keep in mind as you explore it.
  • The default category is set to show events and athletics. However, you can select which category(ies) you would like to view from the "select category" drop down. Then click "Go." The color legend is located at the bottom of the map.
  • Click on one of the events to see more details, including locations and maps, links to more information, etc.

  • You can also schedule a reminder email to be sent to you for future events. Just click on the event and select "Reminder" in the event details pop-up.

  • There is a search button located at the very top of the calendar, which allows you to enter event search criteria.
  • You'll notice a "Subscribe: iCal" link near the top of the calendar. You can use this to obtain the URL to subscribe in either iCal or Google. However, this subscription will include ALL categories. We are working on crafting URLs for each of the categories. Stay tuned for that.
  • You also have the option of bookmarking the special mobile application on your phone home-screen. I highly recommend using this method. Just go to calendarwiz.com/edsaugusta in your phone's browser, and select "mobile." Then create a bookmark to that site according to your phone's functionality.
Please email me with any feedback or questions.

See you soon!

After School Enrichment and Before/After School Care

I am so very excited to be starting my position as Director of After School, Enrichment, and Summer Camps this Fall.  I am sure that I will have a chance to work with you and your student(s) in some capacity as this year progresses.  I am happy to announce that in addition to our wonderful Center staff we have added three very special ladies for After School.  AnnMarie Thomas will be working with PreK, Brooke Babineau will be in the office and working with K-2nd grade and Latricia Sanders will be adding her expertise to 3rd-8th grade.

In addition to After School care, we will be adding Suzuki Violin, Karate and many more art offerings to our Enrichment  program this Fall.  Please be on the look-out for a registration form and information within the next week.

Please feel free to email me for any questions or concerns.

Ready, set, go!

EDS faculty arrived back on campus bright and early last Monday morning. As is EDS tradition, we began by worshiping together in a faculty Eucharist and breaking bread together, thanks to a wonderful breakfast prepared by the EDS Association.

On Tuesday, the entire faculty gathered on the new EDS property for some team-building exercises, led by our friends at Camp Gravatt. The weather couldn't have been better, considering the time of year, and the strong bond between us as EDS family became a little stronger as we worked together to complete fun and challenging tasks.

The rest of the week commenced with planning, preparing, meeting, collaborating, etc. And now we are ready (and extremely excited) to welcome to campus our beloved EDS families - new and returning.

It's going to be a great year.

In everything give thanks.
