It was a honor to recognize Ritter Lumber Company with our coveted Spindletop Award at the 111th Annual meeting of the Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce. We also recognized Representative Allan Ritter for his years of service in Austin. Special guests included a number of colleagues from the Texas House of Representatives including Speaker Joe Straus. Sonny Sherman was recognized with a honorary membership award. Speaker Straus spent time at Lamar University and at the Sabine Neches Navigation Disitrict during his first trip to Beaumont.

We are saddened by the passing of James Yarbrough former CEO of American Valve & Hydrant who served as Chairman pf the Board of Directors for the Beaumont Chamber of Commerce in 1991. He was also the Father-In-Law to 1999 Chairman Tom Gober. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

We support the continuation of the Texas Enterprise Fund. It was used in closing the agreement for Natgasoline LLC to build its new methanol plant in Beaumont. We agree with greater controls, but the program itself is a useful economic development tool.
