Thank you to everyone in attendance at the 2013 Southeast Texas Economic Development Foundation Annual Meeting.  This year's meeting was hosted at Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen on December 5th.

Public Hearing on Reinvestment Zones
Jim Rich and Jessica Hill attended public hearings held by the Jefferson County Commissioners Court to consider reinvestment zones for OCI-Firewater and another local expansion referred to as Project Weldon.  Both projects are moving through the approval phase for local tax agreements and represent significant new investments in the community.

SETX Human Resource Managers Association

Jim Rich and Paul Szuch, Chairman of the Advancing Community Development Division and President of LIT, addressed about 20 local human resource professionals (SETHRA) at their meeting on the campus of Lamar University on Tuesday.  It was an effort to engage them on workforce development and readiness issues and to work more closely in the future on solutions.

TCCE Governmental Affairs Conference 
Jim Rich was invited to lead a session at the first Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives Governmental Affairs Conference in Austin on Wednesday and further served on a panel to discuss accreditation.  Beaumont was recognized for becoming the sixth Texas Chamber of Commerce to earn five-star distinction.  Attendees numbered over 90 from across the state.
