ABC Kids Expo
Baby products coming soon to a store near you!

We spent a few days earlier this month at the annual ABC Kids Expo, the largest private tradeshow in the world for manufacturers to exhibit their new products to retailers, buyers, qualified bloggers and media.

There were hundreds of exhibits and new products there. Many are already available in stores, and some will be showing up in BPE-certified retail stores near you in the next few months.

Check out a few of them here, or view our gallery of new products on our Facebook page

Protecting yourself from domestic violence

Domestic violenceThe National Task Force to End Sexual and Domestic Violence reports that one in four women in the U.S. are victims of domestic violence, three women are murdered by their partners every day, and one in six women have survived actual or attempted sexual assault.

Women between the ages of 16 - 24 are among the most vulnerable to intimate partner violence, but domestic violence affects people regardless of gender, age, sexual orientation, race, or religion.

Learn what the signs are and what you can do to get help for yourself or other loved ones.

Reducing infant mortality in the U.S.

Hispanic pregnant coupleAlthough the number of babies in the U.S. who die in their first year of life continues to decline, we can and should do better, especially among racial and ethnic minorities and certain geographic areas.

To address this issue, the first-ever national strategy was announced by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services several months ago and a taskforce was organized.

Find out about their five common priority areas and what you can do for yourself and your baby.

Breast cancer awareness for younger women

Because the government recommends that most women don't need to start getting their first mammogram until age 40, and more routine mammograms until they are 50, many young women assume that they don't have to worry about getting breast cancer.

This assumption is dead wrong. In fact, 5% of diagnosed cases are in young women, and it also tends to be more aggressive.

Learn more about primary risk factors and what younger women can do to protect their health.
