Hello Station Organizers!

Bike to Work Day is just over a week away, and the countdown has begun.  Here are a few things to think about now that the Big Day is almost here!
  • Help us keep track of the people who visit your station - this helps us get a more accurate count of the people who participate in next week's event!  Feel free to use this tally sheet or signup sheet to help keep track!
  • Get your station ready by printing a banner, flyers, posters, and other handouts!  Use the Materials page to download all the images you'll need for printing!
  • Invite local elected officials, CEOs, and other dignitaries to your station - on their bikes!  Getting an RSVP from a big name presents a great photo op, and is a way for them to connect directly with the local bicycling community.  Plus, if you are sure the person is coming, you can potentially draw some coverage from your local community paper.
  • Remember to boost your STAR Station competitiveness by preparing instructions for participants to go online and rate your station.  Here is sample copy to get you started!
  • Look for volunteers for your station.  Places to look include local employers (who sometimes provide volunteers paid time off), sponsors and donors, and other local groups.
  • Start your "thank yous."  While Bike to Work Day is a lot of fun, it is exhausting.  If you can write your thank you notes before Bike to Work Day, you will thank yourself later.  Consider leaving a little extra space for details from the event, like the number of cyclists who stopped by the station.  Even getting your thank-you list started will help you manage your time.

We will announce the winners of our 2013 STAR Station Competition July 16.

Winners will:

  • Receive provisions for their 2014 stations.  Let us know what you'd like - food and drink for 50 people, a prize to give away, volunteers to help you set up and staff, etc.
  • Receive one of this year's great prizes, like free lunch, sunglasses, or more.
  • Be eligible to use the 2013 STAR Station designation during 2014 Bike to Work Day.
  • Receive recognition on the Way To Go Facebook Page.

Ways you can win:

  • Highest rank on the Bike to Work Day website for your station.
  • Most kudos about your station sent via email, Facebook, or Twitter.
  • Best photo of a station.

Thanks!
