Hello Station Organizers!

In 2012, several stations stood out from the rest of the crowd.  We hope every station will shine this year, so we encourage you to think about some of the following points.
  • Offer Fantastic Food and Delicious Drinks - The best stations in 2012 offered foods like French toast, omelets, breakfast sausage, and more; there were stations with complete hot beverage stations, offering coffee and tea, and others had juices and milk.  STAR Stations will leverage relationships with local businesses and community organizations to receive great food and drink offerings.  Even cold offerings, like fruit, granola, and yogurt, can provide a more complete breakfast for riders.  2012 examples:  Avaya Westminster (French toast), Colorado Tech Center (sausage), Auraria Campus (omelets), City of Glendale (smoothies).
  • Provide Prizes and Giveaways - If you are a business, use your station as an opportunity to showcase your coolest product or service by offering it as a prize in a raffle drawing.  2012 examples:  Anschutz Medical Campus (raffled off a bike, a hotel stay, and handed out coupons, chapstick, and more), University of Denver (handed out bike key chains with carabiners).
  • Bring a Bike Tech - Partner with a local bike shop to staff your station with a bike tech to fix minor repairs, fill tires, and provide fit checks.  2012 examples:  Treads Bicycle Outfitters, Adams County.
  • Help Riders Find Your Station - Guide participants to your station with signs, especially if there is anything blocking your station from being widely visible.  Capture bicycle traffic from multiple directions by using signs with arrows pointing to your station.  2012 examples:  Interlocken East Park, Gates Corporation.

Thanks!
