ServiceDay of Service

Each year, our team participates in a Day of Service to support our community.  This year, our work on September 14th included skilled crews working on a Habitat

habitat build

for Humanity build.  During our construction day, our team installed roof sheeting, framed the two bedroom basement, covered the home exterior in Tyvek and hung all of the windows.

We are grateful for our team and their commitment to our community.

FindsTreasured Finds

Throughout our historic renovation work, it is always intriguing to find unexpected elements at a property. These photos were taken in the lobby of the Bellerive Apartments.

Plaster Ceiling

The first photo is the original decorative plaster ceiling.

 Marble corner

The second is of the original marble corner pieces and plaster crown molding.  The original plaster molds were located in the basement of the building and are used to fabricate replacement molding pieces where necessary.

NewAptHeights at Delaware Ridge Breaks Ground

Heights

HarenLaughlin Construction has broken ground on the $19M Heights at Delaware Ridge apartment complex in Kansas City, Kansas. This complex is the first new construction of market rate apartments in Wyandotte County in over 25 years.  The project encompasses 17 acres and, when complete will hold 228 one, two, and three-bedroom apartments.

Amenities at the apartment community include a clubhouse, fitness center and swimming pool. HarenLaughlin's early involvement in the development has allowed for phased planning in the construction process, with the first buildings slated for occupancy in March of 2013.

Bickford Clubhouse

HarenLaughlin Construction has commenced site work on a 36,000 square foot senior living community in Greenwood, Indiana.  The completed community will offer 16 memory care units and 42 assisted living units, along with private dining, community gathering areas and enclosed courtyards for residents to enjoy outdoor activity.

As the Construction Manager, HarenLaughlin is directing all phases of the project including site work, permitting, subcontractor selection and management of daily construction operations.

Construction is scheduled to continue through June of 2013.

GardensMemory Care Expansion Complete

Gardens Room

After 10 months of construction, the new memory care unit at The Gardens at Barry Road opened on August 16th. The memory care unit holds 32 apartments in two separate wings for full time residents at the facility. The memory care unit is an expansion to the existing assisted living community.

In addition to the new apartments, the memory care building has secure entry, a dining room, private dining, two sitting areas and gated exterior courtyard.  Each of the two wings was finished with a different color scheme for easier recognition by the residents. The gated courtyard is spacious and allows residents to enjoy outdoor space as the seasons allow.

Camp Prairie Schooner
HarenLaughlin Construction was contracted by the Girl Scout Council of Northeast Kansas and Missouri to complete upgrades to Camp Prairie Schooner.

Camp Interior

After some creative value engineering efforts, the HarenLaughlin team was able to bring the project in line with available funding.  The end result includes two new sets of bunk houses, new water lines, a sewage pump system and improvements to gathering areas on the grounds.

Since our last newsletter, we have added several projects as well as many members to the HarenLaughlin team. We are grateful that our team continues to work safely and for the quality of work they perform. We all deserve to go home safely to our families each evening, and providing a quality product is a standard which we won't compromise.

Because of our work flow we are able to continue our commitment to our community, using some of our resources to support volunteer work. One of the ways we give back is to volunteer our skills in helping Habitat for Humanity. This year we provided skilled crews for a Day of Service on September 14th. We try to volunteer more than once a year because there will be some projects which are at a critical state and need to retain their workforce.  An additional Day of Service ensures that everyone has an opportunity to give back.

We are thankful, not only for our continued work and safe environment, but also for our crews who are willing to help others in our community on our Day of Service and throughout the year.

Thank you to our team for all of your hard work!
