In Her Shoes: "Why Doesn't She Just Leave?"

shoe grid

A Community Education "Game," In Her Shoes Helps HCWC Volunteers and Community Members see Domestic Violence from the Victim's Perspective.

Why doesn't she just leave? It seems so simple, but in real life the choices facing a victim of domestic violence are much more complex. The simulation, In Her Shoes, allows players to make choices and experience the lives of family violence victims. In Her Shoes helps participants understand the complex and dynamic nature of domestic violence and the barriers that battered women face.  Click here to read the entire article.

A Daughter's Story About

Escaping A Violent Home

Domestic violence doesn't have a name. It doesn't have a face, an identity or an income bracket. Domestic violence is no respecter of persons, age or race and has no regard who it affects. What domestic violence does have is power -- a stronghold and oppression. How do I know?  Click here to read her inspiring story.

November 5 Annual Meeting Invitation

HCWC's Annual Meeting will held on Monday, November 5 at the Price Seniors Center in San Marcos. The keynote speaker will be Catherine Shellman, founder of the Tiffanie Suzanne Perry Foundation. Catherine has been a domestic abuse advocate and presenter of "Un-Silence the Violence," a firsthand experience with domestic violence through the eyes of a mother. Catherine's 23 year-old daughter, Tiffanie had her life taken September 5, 2010 by her abusive ex-boyfriend.   Click here to read more.
