From Star Parker:
Extreme Progressivism.
That's what I witnessed the other week at the Democratic National Convention.
Extreme dependency was the theme.
I saw it in Sandra Fluke when she spoke. She's the Georgetown University student who demanded the government force her Christian university to pay for her $9 per month birth control bills.
I saw it when liberals removed God from the Democratic platform and then forced it back in -- even though the delegates made it clear they wanted nothing to do with it.
I saw it when they told me that my success was dependent on the central bureaucracy that takes other people's money to build expensive entitlement programs.
That's when I realized, progressives are now emboldened to grow government more than ever in our history -- the very thing our founding fathers built our country to avoid!
We're at a point in our history where Progressives can say and do anything without consequences because their constituents -- the people who vote for them and keep them in the majority -- are dependent on them.
Watching speech after speech about abortions on demand, homosexual marriage, and government-funded birth control, I thought about the single mothers and the grandmothers raising children -- particular African Americans -- who go to church every Sunday and I wondered: do they see what I see?
I know they see it and I know what they were thinking: that Progressives do not share their values. But the entitlement system is a powerful drug to quit.
But I can't let them turn away, especially Americans raising children, after they've seen the most extremist liberals in our nations' history stand for everything they oppose.
Friend, this is our opportunity! Now is the time to expose the fuel that powers the Progressive movement: dependency.
I'm living proof the addiction to government can be broken. After seven years on and off of welfare, I quit the plantation! But I only did it after I was taught that dependency -- having no responsibility -- was the very thing that was ruining my life.
Today, my work is to protect American freedom and expose the danger of government handouts that threatens it so greatly. That's why I built my Black Pastor's Program to amplify my voice in America's communities that need to hear our message the most.
We now have extreme evidence to reach out to the single mothers, the grandmothers and anyone who is broken by dependency.
Are you fired up like me?
Let's grab this chance now and expose the Progressive destruction of our country. Let's expose the consequence of dependency and stop the socialists in their tracks!
