Global Youth Summit Invitation

On July 16-19, nearly 1,000 youth ages 18-25 from around the world will gather at Messiah College for the Global Youth Summit. The GYS will include spiritual input and worship led by musicians from many different cultures, opportunities to share and interact with one another, and activities to create a shared experience across cultural barriers.  $120/day. That grants admission on July 22, 23,24, or 25 for
the first event of the day - International Singing beginning at

Pipeline to Prison Learning Tour

 

From September 20-26, 2015, join Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) staff and partners for a week-long learning tour focusing on the challenges and complexities of the U.S. criminal justice system. Based in Lancaster County, Pa., the tour will include day trips to Philadelphia, Reading, Lancaster and Harrisburg. Participants will journey from the local community level through the criminal justice system, learning about law enforcement, sentencing, incarceration and re-entry. All who are interested in learning about disparities in the justice system, including those working in or seeking to develop a prison/re-entry ministry, are welcome. Service Adventure Unit Leaders: Live in a unit house with a small group of youth and offer support as they serve and live in Christian community. Positions open in Albany, Ore. and Albuquerque, N.M. Age: 24+, term: 2 years.

 

Journey International: Grow spiritually, learn passionately, and serve in Indonesia as a teacher or digital media content creator. Ages 18-27, term: 1 year.

 

Mennonite Voluntary Service: Serve, live, and grow in places like Chicago, Madison, San Antonio, and Kansas City. Age: 20+, term: 1-2 years.



Nepal benefit concert

 

Zion Mennonite Church in Souderton PA is hosting a benefit concert on Saturday, June 13 at 7:00 pm for Mennonite Central Committee's (MCC) relief work in Nepal, a country that suffered two massive earthquakes at the end of April and beginning of May.  Kim Thiessen and Darryl Neustaedter-Barg will share their gift of music in support of MCC's work in Nepal.  This musical duo has released five CD's, traveled extensively and recorded on three continents.  Admission is free.  A freewill offering will be collected along with sales of Kim and Darryl's music cd's.  All proceeds will go to Mennonite Central Committee.

Mennonite Healthcare Alliance Fellowship Annual Gathering

 

Come join with doctors, nurses, dieticians, therapists, chaplains, mental health workers, and many other healthcare workers and their families from around the world!  It's the Mennonite Healthcare Fellowship (MHF) Annual Gathering, July 19-21, 2015, immediately prior to Mennonite World Conference Global Assembly in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. LMS Announcements

  

Host families are needed for a visiting international teacher at the Locust Grove Campus of Lancaster Mennonite School for the 2015-16 school year, one for the fall and another for the spring, starting in mid-August.   A stipend is provided to cover expenses. Responsibilities include providing transportation to and from school each day. The international teacher is coming through the MCC International Volunteer Exchange Program (see http://ivep.mcc.org/host). No Longer Alone Ministries 
Support Groups

 

Paths to Discovery Support Group of No Longer Alone Ministries will meet on Thursday, June 4 at 630 Janet Ave, Room B103, Lancaster, 11am - 12:30 pm.

Parkinson's Support Group to Discuss Local Resources

 

The Lancaster Parkinson's Support Group will meet on June 15 and will feature guest speakers from two local agencies that offer resources. The topic for discussion will be "Resource Information on Services for Persons with Parkinson's." A representative from the Lancaster County Office of Aging and Barbara Nichols from the Independent Living Center at United Disabilities Service (UDS) will share local resources. There will also be a time for questions and answers.

 

The public meeting is scheduled for Monday, June 15 at 2:00 p.m. in the Westview Community Room at Landis Homes, 1001 East Oregon Road, Lititz.  Following the meeting will be a time of refreshments and informal discussion.

MWC Asia Celebration

Learn about the experiences of Asian Anabaptist Mennonites and Brethren in Christ at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 1, at Mellinger Mennonite Church, 1916 Lincoln Hwy E, Lancaster. Enjoy a panel discussion featuring Indonesia with Benny Krisbianto and Aldo Siahaan, Vietnam with Tuyen Nguyen, and India with Paulus Thalalhoti and Ken Hoke, There will also be music and light refreshments during this free event in preparation for Mennonite World Conference (MWC) Assembly in July at the Harrisburg Farm Show Complex.

Folk Art Fun for Kids and Adults

This summer, the 1719 Hans Herr House & Museum is beginning a new program introducing traditional Pennsylvania German skills.  This series features five classes, ranging from fraktur and scherenschnitte to hearth cooking, blacksmithing, and tape weaving, each designed for a child to learn together with an accompanying adult. The first class is on Fraktur and Scherenschnitte on Wednesday, June 17, from 9 a.m. to noon. Learn more at www.hansherr.org.
