These bulletin announcements are meant to be a helpful resource for those of you who put your congregations' bulletins together on a weekly basis. If there are ways we could present this information more effectively please don't hesitate to pass on your ideas or give feedback.
Some churches forward the following information and community life announcements to their attenders using email while others post various events in their weekly bulletin, on their church website, or Facebook page.

New Conference Announcements
|
2015 Spring Assembly, April 18 - "...and you will be my witnesses..." |
This year's Spring Assembly Celebration will be held at Forest Hills Mennonite Church, 100 Quarry Road, Leola, PA 17540.
Come to be inspired and share your ideas as we reimagine ACC's missions focus. Registration will begin at 8 am with the program running from 9 am to 3:45 pm.
In addition to its adult delegates (two delegates for the first 100 members and one delegate for each additional 100 members or fraction thereof), each congregation is encouraged to appoint and send one youth delegate (high school age). There will be a separate morning session and lunch for youth delegates and any interested youth or young adult attendees to explore the the theme of missions.
We also invite members of congregational missions and service committees to come and contribute their ideas, experience and passion to the converstion.

ACC Display for Global Church Village at MWC Assembly
|
One of the Mennonite World Conference Assembly highlights will be the Global Church Village (GCV), where guests will be able to explore and learn about the life and mission of local churches around the world.
ACC will be holding a display in the GCV and is looking for any level of involement from conference congregations. If you would like to contribute an idea, a visual, or your time to this display, contact the ACC office, office@atlanticcoastconference.net

Church Librarians' Event
|
Early PA Settlers and their Relationships with Native Americans will be the theme for the 2015 Librarians & Friends' Workshop on Saturday, April 11 beginning with registration at 8 a.m., Mennonite Heritage Center, 565 Yoder Road, Harleysville. Featured speakers will be Ervin Stutzman and John Ruth. Ervin, who has written Jacob's Choice about the Hochstetler Massacre which took place in 1756 near Shartlesville; has a second book in the series to be published in June. Dr. John Ruth, a prolific writer and storyteller, will be sharing from current research he has been doing for a book about the relationships of the early settlers and the Native Americans in Eastern Pennsylvania. Luncheon will be catered by Social Tea Caterers. Books for sale by the Doylestown Book Shop.

An Evening with Rachel Held Evans

Sponsored by Parish Resource Center, Rachel Held Evans is a New York Times bestselling author and popular blogger. She will discuss the question many people, especially those in their 20s and 30s, are asking, "Why should I go to church?"
She will talk about her personal journey and the steps churches can take to connect meaningfully and successfully with young people.

**Important: New PA State Child Abuse Laws |
Many new child abuse laws took effect in Pennsylvania on December 31, 2014 that will have an impact on churches and ministries with children's programs.
Contact Brook Musselman in the conference office if you're interested in learning more about resources to help your church remain compliant and develop practices to make your church a safe place for all.
ACC is partnering with Lancaster Mennonite Conference to offer an informational meeting on the new PA state child abuse laws. The remaining meeting will be held on April 7. See the link above or contact either conference office for more information.

Amish Educational Series at Garden Spot Village

Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society, in collaboration with Garden Spot Village, will present three sessions entitled Amish Educational Series at Garden Spot Village on April 13, 20, 27. An additional session presented by Paul Kurtz representing the Nicholas Stoltzfus House in Reading will be given on May 11. These sessions are free and open to the public. Any consideration to adding these to the LMC calendar of events will be appreciated.

The 150-voice Mennonite Children's Choir of Lancaster will perform its spring concerts series at the following locations: 7 p.m. Thursday, April 16, at Willow Street Mennonite Church; 6 p.m. Sunday, April 19, at Weaverland Mennonite Church, East Earl; 7 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at the Leffler Chapel and Performing Arts Center, Elizabethtown College; 4 p.m., May 3, at James Street Mennonite Church, Lancaster; 7 p.m., Sunday, May 9, at Stumptown Mennonite Church, Bird-in-Hand.

Landis Communities is holding a Clergy Breakfast, Thursday, May 21. It will be held at Yoder's Country Market Banquet Hall in New Holland from 7:30-9:00 AM. Pastors and others in congregational leadership, particularly those who work with folks age 55 plus are welcome. Speakers will include those working with Adult Day Services, Landis At Home and other parts of the organization. Following the presentation, there will be an optional tour of nearby Welsh Mountain Home and Mountain View Terrace. Family History Conference-
"Celebrities and Cellmates:"
This year's Lancaster Family History Conference focuses on finding that famous or infamous ancestor, with a keynote address by D. Joshua Taylor of the Genealogy Roadshow. There are also numerous workshops for the beginner or advanced genealogist. The conference takes place of April 24 and 25 at the Lancaster Host Resort and Conference Center. Of dioramas, Nobel prizes, and Mennonites
Sample the artistic, literary, and historical heritage of southeastern Pennsylvania with this field trip by the Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society (LMHS). Learn about dioramas of Abner and Aaron Zook, view the largest collection of fraktur in any Mennonite museum, and enjoy the home of Nobel Prize in Literature winner Pearl S. Buck. The tour takes place from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on Saturday, May 2, starting and returning at LMHS.
