An Evening with Rachel Held Evans
|
Sponsored by Parish Resource Center, Rachel Held Evans is a New York Times bestselling author and popular blogger. She will discuss the question many people, especially those in their 20s and 30s, are asking, "Why should I go to church?"
She will talk about her personal journey and the steps churches can take to connect meaningfully and successfully with young people.

2015 Spring Assembly, April 18 |
This year's Spring Assembly Celebration will be held at Forest Hills Mennonite Church, 100 Quarry Road, Leola, PA 17540.
Registration will begin at 8 am with the program running from 9 am to 3:45 pm
Lunch is provided and donations will be accepted to cover the cost.
In addition to its adult delegates (two delegates for the first 100 members and one delegate for each additional 100 members or fraction thereof), each congregation is encouraged to appoint and send one youth delegate (high school age). There will be a separate morning session and lunch for youth delegates and any interested youth or young adult attendees to explore the the theme of missions.

Women of all ages are invited to this morning event hosted by Atlantic Coast and Lancaster Conference Mennonite Women at the MCC Material Resource Center in Ephrata.
After a morning of service, enjoy a soup lunch. Please bring your own bowl and spoon, and a pint of chicken corn or vegetable soup to share!

**Important: New PA State Child Abuse Laws |
Many new child abuse laws took effect in Pennsylvania on December 31, 2014 that will have an impact on churches and ministries with children's programs.
Contact Brook Musselman in the conference office if you're interested in learning more about resources to help your church remain compliant and develop practices to make your church a safe place for all.
ACC is partnering with Lancaster Mennonite Conference to offer an informational meeting on the new PA state child abuse laws. The remaining meeting will be held on April 7. See the link above or contact either conference office for more information.

MC USA and MWC Announcements

Resource Sharing for MWC Assembly |
Mennonite World Conference is encouraging congregations in the U.S. and Canada to partner with each other so that churches with fewer resources and congregations with recent immigrants can also send representatives to the upcoming assembly (July 21-26, 2015 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania). Whether or not you plan to attend, consider supporting the gathering by partnering in this way. Costs are split between MWC and both congregations. More info at mwc-cmm.org/pa2015partnership.

Kansas City '15 Registration is open!

These winter temps may make summer seem far away, but the Mennonite Church USA convention in Kansas City, June 30-July 5, 2015, will be here before you know it. The Executive Board is encouraging congregations to identify and register delegates early, so that they can participate in a survey of all delegates which will be sent out in February. Needed: Guides for Meetinghouse and grounds

Germantown Mennonite Historic Trust is gathering community members to serve a volunteer guides for our historic Meetinghouse and grounds. We invite you to join our Meetinghouse Guide Training on Saturday, March 14, from 12-3 PM at 6133 Germantown Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19144. Christopher Friesen will train guides in offering a broad overview of Germantown Mennonite history, as well as offering opportunities to explore specific topics in more detail. Guides will then staff Open House tours April-October on First Fridays and Second Saturdays, as well as private scheduled tours. Lunch will be provided. Landis Homes and the Alzheimer's Association of Greater Pennsylvania Chapter are hosting a meeting Tuesday, March 31 at 7:00PM. The meeting will be held in the Warwick Room at the Heritage Entrance. The speaker is Lisa Paulson from the Lancaster County Office of Aging and she will be sharing about Community Resources for those who are walking with people who have Alzheimer's. Pies in the Mennonite Tradition
Stop by the Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society on Saturday, March 14 between 6:00 and 8:30 p.m. to learn how to make pie crusts, and to sample some slices with a cup of coffee for yourself. MWC Book Discussion on African Anabaptists
To prepare for Mennonite World Conference Assembly in July, hear input, responses, and discussion about "Anabaptist Songs in African Hearts," the Africa volume of the Global Mennonite History Series on Sunday, March 15 from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. at Landis Homes, West Bethany Chapel.

Talk on Pennsylvania Patchwork Pillowcases
Visit the Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society on Saturday, March 28, between 10 am and noon to hear author Ann Hermes talk about her book "Pennsylvania Patchwork Pillowcases and Other Small Treasures." Historical examples of patchwork pillowcases will be on display, and modern renditions available for purchase.

This year's Lancaster Family History Conference focuses on finding that famous or infamous ancestor, with a keynote address by D. Joshua Taylor of the Genealogy Roadshow. There are also numerous workshops for the beginner or advanced genealogist. The conference takes place of April 24 and 25 at the Lancaster Host Resort and Conference Center.
