Information Session - New PA State Child Abuse Laws

Come to the January 13 informational meetings on the new Pennsylvania State child abuse laws that went into effect on December 31. Lancaster Mennonite Conference staff, along with a local attorney, will outline the changes effecting churches and answer questions. Program begins at 7 p.m.

**Important: New PA State Child Abuse Laws |
Many new child abuse laws took effect in Pennsylvania on December 31 that will have an impact on churches and ministries with children's programs.
Contact Brook Musselman in the conference office if you're interested in learning more about resources to help your church remain compliant and develop practices to make your church a safe place for all.
ACC is partnering with Lancaster Mennonite Conference to offer an informational meeting on the new PA state child abuse laws. Meetings will be held January 13 and April 7. See the link above or contact either conference office for more information.

Global Anabaptism Series

You are invited to learn more about Anabaptist related churches around the globe in preparation for the Mennonite World Conference gathering in Harrisburg, PA July 21-26, 2015. On the Wednesday evenings a speaker will share regarding Anabaptist related churches on each of the five continents.
Gain a deeper understanding of how Anabaptist related churches have found and sustained their faith. Learn their histories and the issues they face today. Through their unique stories we have much to learn.

January 29 Open House at All LMS Campuses
Lancaster Mennonite School will hold a school-wide open houseThursday, January 29, 6-8:30 p.m. at its four campuses: Kraybill (PreK-8) in Mount Joy, Lancaster (grades 6-12), Locust Grove (PreK-8) in Smoketown/E. Lampeter Township, and New Danville (PreK-5).
The event will include guided tours and an opportunity to meet teachers and administrators.
At the Lancaster Campus there also will be an opportunity for students entering grades 9-12 to register for courses for the 2015-16 year. For more information call Christy Horst at (717) 509-4459, extension 312.
In the event of inclement weather, the event will be held Thursday, February 5.
Children in kindergarten through second grade are invited to register for the spring 2015 semester of Prelude Music. Part of the Mennonite Children's Choir of Lancaster, Prelude Music is a non-auditioned group whose primary goal is to engage children with music. Playing, moving, listening and singing are important components. Classes are held Tuesday evenings in February through April at Blossom Hill Mennonite Church. Registration deadline is February 10. Seminary Scholarships Available |
For the 2015-16 school year Eastern Mennonite Seminary has a large number of Ministry Leadership Awards available. These awards range from ¼ - ¾ tuition for Mennonite and Anabaptist-affiliated students who show a sense of call and desire to serve the church.
Students are encouraged to apply by February 1 for these awards. They will be chosen based on application materials. Students who accept these awards are still eligible for other forms of financial aid like the Mennonite student discount and the church matching grant. They must study full-time on the Harrisonburg campus of EMS.

MCC urgently needs relief kits, hygiene kits and comfortersfor its relief work, especially in the Middle East, specifically Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, and Gaza. Because of such a demand, stocks of these items are in low supply at the Material Resource Center warehouse in Ephrata.

The Craft Stand coordinators want to remind crafters to begin creating for the 59th annual PA Relief Sale which will be held the third weekend of April, Friday and Saturday, April 17-18, 2015, at the Farm Show Building in Harrisburg, PA. We are seeking crafters who work with fabric, wood, paper, yarn, thread, or jewelry to make and donate quality crafts. Yes, the sale is almost five months away, but well-made crafts take lots of time! Please see the Craft Stand poster (on bulletin board) for additional details. Prepare for PA 2015 by learning more about the beliefs that 1.7 million Mennonites and related groups share in common around the world.
